sharing my story here. Had an ASUS 2080ti fail during 2021 sortage. Sucks. Figure I’ll RMA it. Contact ASUS for rma. Send it in they tell me it’s going to cost me $1400 dollars to repair because of damage “because of corner damage on the shipping box”without even showing me the card. With everything going on I wouldn’t have cared to pay some money to fix the card but $1400 never buying an ASUS product ever again. Shame it happens to Gamersnexus and other Reddit users.

What absolute bullshit. My first build in the early 2000s used an ASUS motherboard. I used to recommend them to everyone. My latest build I switched to ASRock and I am so glad I did.
yikes, sorry you gotta deal with this…
Is there even any meaningful damage to the connector?
Definitely going to be avoiding Asus in my future hardware (and laptops). My current X16 has do many small issues that are annoying and tell me to avoid Asus in the future
I’m in the middle of working out a CPU upgrade right now which means for me I will need a new motherboard.
I was looking at ASUS boards (I have one in my current build) but after this shit I’m not touching them with a 10 foot pole.
Poor Conner hope he finds the help he needs 🙏🏻
$1400 to repair a 2080ti? Sounds like a big scam to me. That’s almost 4090 prices or better yet I’d just reply like:”nah imma get a 4080, but a different brand” so long deeeeeeemon.
Where does it say it’s the box what’s was damaged? From the invoice I assume it’s something pcb related.
Gamersnexus on YouTube has a video about how they are basically running a scam and what to do
After my RMA experience with them – I will never knowingly buy another ASUS product as long as I live.
That’s ridiculous LOL what the heck is a shipping box even for if they’re going to mark that instead of the product?!
Perhaps they want box in a box in a box in a box…
Then say “corner damaged” only to not look at the product
I swore off Asus boards and video cards in 2016 because their RMA policy was starting to suck in our country. Wouldn’t RMA a 2 month old board and, like this, they kept looking for excuses to not honor warranty. I fully acknowledge that they made good stuff, it’s just that their local distro in our country were being jackasses.
Their monitor department was still good, though.
I wonder if this entire Warranty debacle is caused by a few shady repair guys, who’re trying to make big bucks by overcharging.
Asus is comical at this point
Thank you. I currently use asus tuf mobo and was planning on going all asus gear but from this and gamers nexus I’ll never be buying anything to do with asus again.
.They’re not good humans over there.
I’ll stick with ones that acctually give a f$#@ about people
first there was inflation, then there was shrinkflation, now is the era of fuckyouflation where companies just lie cheat weasel and find any way possible to screw you over
Its literraly say on the recipe PCB damage
The picture with the Corner damage on the box dosent mean the damange its on the box , it how they identify the RMA that they chevked I guess sl they dont have to open and see all the package in case they need iy again.
They look at the boxes and know whats inside. Just that you guys are confusing things here.
When I RMAed my used AMD motherboard, they said “rejected for pin damage” and send me pictures of and LGA motherboard. Those bastards.
oh wow, definitely returning the Asus 4070s I just bought. Have no interest in dealing with this
Seems to vary be region. Asus RMA in the UK is usually flawless, because as far as I know, they all go to Scan for repair. Never had an issue with them.
I am literally waiting to send my 3080 Ti in for warranty replacement for no display because it died right around the time the Gamers Nexus video came out. I have a shipping label and everything, I just don’t trust them to do the right thing here. Fuck Asus man…
Yup! They returned a mobo to me and told me there was nothing wrong with it. Guess I was just hallucinating the constant PCIe errors that don’t happen on the replacement AsRock mobo I bought.
Terrible.
No offence to the large Reddit user base that lives in the US, but I am seeing a pattern here which is that most US repair services PC parts related (non-enterprise) and that are outsourced by companies like ASUS (as they aren’t the only culprit) to donkeys and they don’t care about it.
Can someone explain why this issue is not really widespread in a lot of EU countries or the UK for repairing pc parts, as far as I know there is no special law mandating fair repair costs other than the better returns policy.
Asus looked at Newegg and said “hold my beer”
When my Gigabyte 3080 ti died, I sent it to them, and they sent me back a 4070 ti, which is a faster card.
everyone who talked crap on me for my msi mobo is looking real silly rn
Whew, shame people have had to deal with this company acting this way. I was looking for a new motherboard for HDMI 2.1 and def will avoid ASUS without a doubt. They really shit the bed, and being a tech company, one would think they would know how easy receipts are to store and show now.
So which companies are the best to use currently? Not, Asus obviously – ugh.
Well after all this drama with ASUS. When I decide to upgrade I’ll probably go with another brand. Any recommendations for good brands with good customer service?
Christine decided to go nazi mode today.
Asus is blacklisted for my future builds
Welp Asus was my favourite brand, they’ve just lost out on thousands as I don’t think I’ll be buying from them again if this is the level of pettiness for a repair… The box isn’t even Asus branded ffs…
I’ve always found that they also have loads of very questionably or poorly thought through features and want to run ton of system applications for their wonky ideas. Some of the USB ports are different from other USB ports and have different coloring and each of them implies different things, really it’s very rich in future
