I find it amusing they included the word “satirical” in there just to cover their bases from someone doing the opposite and just sarcastically praising it. What if someone just doesn’t say anything at all but does a video with clips showing how stupid stuff might be? Or maybe just doing funny faces whenever bad stuff is happening without “saying” anything?
I could see some funny content coming from this and just having the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme playing.
Frank627Full
I can see why they did that, but it wasn’t a good idea.
TalkingToTalk
Even if I just saw good reviews I would assume they were made by bots
nogoodgreen
Is this what the future looks like? Movies and Games and TV shows including a legal statement saying “You cant make any criticism of this product in a review we will accept nothing but praise”
Fucking hell hope people shit on these things even harder.
JillValentine69X
Sonys going to be taking notes on this one
EwanPorteous
As if that is enforceable anywhere in the world lol
LifeOfHi
No shot that’s enforceable by the company or any court.
DornsFacialhair
That’s not gonna be good for anybody.
Thathappenedearlier
This is a little late to the party. Clause was removed already. Sounds like they copy pasted their sponsorship contract
LadyRuth331
Well, if that’s the case, we might as well start selling ice to Eskimos!
gpetrakas
That’s definitely illegal in the EU
Lazy_Palpitation_343
Lucky the game isn’t bad tbh only some minor nit picks but game seems to be going well and also a breath of fresh air for the hero shooter
They insist however that it was all just a “miscommunication”. Yeah, right. Like anybody is going to believe that. They knew full well what they were writing and and meant every word of it.
Kengfatv
disparagement isn’t the same as leaving a negative review. Dispragement is what people did to overwatch when it released on steam, for example.
Narynan
I can still talk shit about the game and not own it? Right?
Saneless
At this point valve needs to forbid sales from companies that have shitty TOS
MorrowDisca
EU lawyers in an absolute frenzy.
Breaky97
Isn’t this a bit blown out of proportion, is it not pre-alpha access? Most of games in closed access have NDA.
And it also said subjective negative opinion, so you are still allowed to give constructive criticism, but most of users don’t know how to give one all they know is say this game is dogshit at minor inconvenience, and they really can’t work with that feedback in alpha game.
oliferro
Didn’t stop xQc lol
Dude spent his whole weekend shitting on the game and the devs lmao
Zetra3
I can’t sign anyway my Freedom of speech proper review, and can sue for any retaliation. No contract of any kind can remove my rights. So good luck with that
SmokinBandit28
I’m guessing this is out of context and part of the ToS for the alpha/beta and not the full game.
Kohel13
Ready to shit on it without buying it!!
THEGoDLiKeMIKE
The reviews are going to look worse than helldivers after psn disaster.
Joebranflakes
So since it’s a ToS thing, not a legal thing, the most they could do is ban you. If they ban you after leaving a bad review, that would not go over well with other players. Perhaps they haven’t heard of the Streisand effect?
Stonewall30NY
Bad reviews isn’t disparaging. That’s not what the clause does. This is just Internet nonsense
Honorman_42
That’s not gonna be good for anybody.
MAY01337
They’ve already walked back on it
shotgunsniper9
Hopefully they mean no negative reviews as in “I don’t like this game because (insert means spirited reason here)” and not “this game needs to improve (insert genuine criticism that could improve the game here) and then I’ll change this review.”
So less people will just say things are woke or saying not to buy a game because of a particular person or company’s involvement, or because of their political or religious beliefs.
I mean I know I’m wrong, the world has taught me enough to know things are always the worst case scenario and sometimes even worse than you thought, but yeah.
iofhua
It’s literally an exercise of free speech. There’s no way this holds up.
If they start litigating their own players, it’s going to blow up even bigger and be much, much worse for them.
Grass_tomouth
Haven’t even heard of this game. So it’s basically Marvel Overwatch?
RayS0l0
Isn’t this still in beta? I thought review embargo isn’t lifted yet so people who got early access can’t really share their opinions.
SentientDust
Good luck enforcing that
PraiseRao
It’s an NDA. I’ve said this in anther post. WWE games had a clause in them for a long time that in order to review the game you could not show HHH in a negative light. You’re agreeing to terms to access the game. You sign an NDA that says you can’t say anything negative about the game. This will hold up in court.
It’s fucking stupid as hell because it does is make us not want the game.

It is reported in an [update to the eurogamer.net article](https://www.eurogamer.net/marvel-rivals-tos-contains-a-non-disparagement-clause-to-prevent-players-giving-negative-reviews) that developer Netease has already apologized and walked back the non-disparagement clause.
