Why did they stop making new Burnout games? why can’t they remaster the PS2 Burnout games?

EA basically killed Criterion and have them making Need for Speed games now.

They make the better entries in the NFS series, but yeah…

Just like what the other commenter said, in the eyes of EA, Need for Speed is the way to go moving forward. Xbox 360 version of Revenge is essentially the remastered version (I believe it’s still available in Xbox store?). Your alternative is pretty much emulation.
Why can’t they do it for the rest of the franchise? Either no incentive or if they tried it for Burnout 3, there will be some missing songs. I don’t know if they can remaster 1 and 2 since (I don’t think) EA does not have rights to those.

Need For Speed always sold better than Burnout, EA chose the racing option that made them more money.

I loved the burnout series so much. I put so many hours into them.

Brings back memories of burning a modest mouse CD onto the Xbox and listening to it while tearing up the streets.

  5. I just want Paradise, I don’t care if it’s just a remaster. The sounds and soundtrack of that game were incredible.

They probably thought we had enough crashing for a lifetime!

If they made a full game out of that chain reaction crash mode I would pay an embarrassingly high price for it, that shit was what I assume meth felt like when it hit just right.

I stop buying them because they didn’t make any more

Because the gaming inudstry is creativly bankurpt and stopped evolving past 2010. It’s not just Burnout. Other similar arcade games like Guitar Hero, Skate, Tony Hawk and Midnight Club are also gone. At the same time though it’s good that they aren’t coming back. As they would get turned into shitty live service games like NFS or the new Skate. You don’t need remasters for these games. Go play the original and have fun.

EA: We won’t do it, nobody wants Single Player games anymore. Online Racing Games have very little opportunity for investment and-

Developer: But Sir, we can place Real Life Ads on the billboards, bus stops and several other locations!

    EA: Remake it NOW!

I would pay a ridiculous amount for a burnout 3 release on current gen.

Burnout 2 was amazing. As soon as ea bought it, they broke it. B3 was gorgeous but not nearly as fun.

After the dumpster fire that was paradise, I’m not surprised they took a hiatus.  Until that point, you could choose events from a menu.  In paradise however, you would have to learn and memorize a pretend city, and find events by driving to them.

No one has commented the real answer yet so here it is: sponsorships.

Racing genre is a niche market, the industry doesn’t see it as viable without having real world brands to pay for your development through sponsorships. Game budgets have skyrocketed since Burnout’s heyday in the early 2000s.

Which car brand would ever pay money to put their stuff in a Burnout game?

It’s an IP owned by EA… and you can always trust EA to make the wrong decisions with their IP’s

EA doing something that makes sense? I needed that laugh.

I had Burnout Revenge and the speed, chaos and badassness of wrecking rivals was unparalleled. I’ve played modern racing games that can’t touch it.
