I have always said that the highest compliment I can give a video game is wishing I could erase my memory of it so I could play it for the first time again.

Great wish if you’re a teen with just a few years of gaming experience. Terrible if you’re 40 and you’ve been gaming since you were 6. Experiencing going from NES to N64, or GTA 2 to GTA 3 will never hit the same.
Don_Lamonte
This is me with Silent Hill 1, 2 & 3 and the entire Devil May Cry series

Time kinda just does that to me enough to get a lot out of replaying things years later. Too bad you can’t ever actually replay all games once the servers are down nor can you experience games when they were “sensational” once the sensation’s peak ends. Good post, thanks op lol

There is one downside with that. The cake is a lie!

Forgets all the games he’s ever played. Has no idea he wanted to play them again, and never ends up doing it, so essentially he never played them at all.

Destiny 2 will probably be enjoyable for me again
jnadams2000
The first Dying Light and Fallout all over again.
theatomicflounder333
Me with Bioshock, I was sooo scared, nervous, got sucked in by the Lore, and collected everything I could.
Outside_Public4362
Nah I don’t have time to play them all over again and there are so many games I still haven’t played due to pc is too old , and you’re not getting the time back so basically you’re deleting your memory without the time compensation

You know what, better yet Backup my memory, then after the second first time mix it with the backup.

I don’t want to endlessly rehash my life. I’d rather wish for more time to get to the amazing games I haven’t played yet

Obligatory reference to Outer Wilds. The community of that game is actively searching for ways to remove the knowledge of the planetary system from their minds, to be able to play it again.
darealarusham
I constantly think about this.
Then i realize i’ll lose all my skill too.. so if i just forget the amazing story of a game i loved it’ll feel weird knowing exactly what to do in combat situations and puzzles and whatot.
The only game where i’d give up both is to experience RDR2 again. This time, at 60fps! First (and second playthrough im currently on) was/is at 30fps because my GTX 1050Ti can’t handle this game that well.

nah mate you have it wrong, genies are buggers for giving you exactly what you asked for, but not what you meant.
this wish would make you forget WHICH games you had played in the past, so like, you would install a game, thinking you had never played it, download it, and be like “oh shit i have played this one after all, next” 🤣

I wouldn’t wish restarting KSP or HOI4 on my worst enemy…

I damn wish I could go back and experience Subnautica blind again.

I’ve been gaming for over 30 years and I’m always finding new experiences. Plus, I think it’s great to have played on so many different devices and to have first-hand knowledge of thousands of games. In any case, every few years, I enjoy playing old games again.

Can it be all the Media I have watched? Because I would love to experience Lord of the rings for the first time again, or my loved songs, or my favorite shows.

I’ll be honest, I’m kind of scared of not enjoying them as much as I did as a kid, I remember I could have stayed all day in front of my 3DS played Mario kart 7 and still have fun, but now… 10 minutes of Mario kart 8 deluxe hit me with the 😐

I can hit you on the head to give you amnesia for $2000

One perk of being in my 40s is revisiting games from the 90s and not remembering most of them in detail – it’s new and nostalgia in one.
PuzzleheadedLeader79
I’m at a point where I’m over playing the newest thing. So I’m busting out emulators and playing every game I ever loved but can barely remember at this point.

Monkey’s Paw: your tastes have changed and you have less time to play games, your favourite games still don’t hit the same and they’re not your favourite any more.

People are gonna learn real quick that modern games are way better than their golden games of yesterday.

I’d rather not have to relearn how to play all my strategy games

Me after making this wish (i no longer has any nostalgia for gaming and suddenly has no interest in playing them nor any knowledge of why I would want to):

This goes to Doom Eternal. My God that game invoked a sense of awe like nothing else. And this was even after following it religiously for years.
They did an amazing job not giving away too much.
