Microsoft is considering increasing the price of Game Pass Ultimate again. It’s also had internal debates on whether to put new Call of Duty releases on Game Pass.
“Hellblade II is another game that Microsoft has been considering for the PS5”
The math isn’t going to change under new leadership. If gamepass costs more to operate than they’re charging, the price will go up, or the service will die
Tbh, I’m suprised the price has stayed as low as it has for this long

If MS wants gamepass subs; include WOW Sub with gamepass. Throw ALL cods on gamepass. Revitalize dead IPs like Banjo Kazooie, Halo, fable, give boomers who only play candy crush a reason to actually sub like free coins monthly or something. Exclusive content in games not gamepass exclusive, foster relations with indie devs that is actually sustainable, give marketing to games that don’t have it (manor lord is successful but I was shocked it wasn’t included on the list of upcoming games and shadow dropped on gamepass) Hellblade 2 could be getting WAY better marketing I feel like nobody even knows that Heilung is helping with this game (amazing folk band using ancient runes translated from rings and bands, while also using traditional ancient style instruments made of fuckin human bone) Higher ups don’t give a shit about actual products, they only care about the money. Imagine if Halo Infinite was actually filled with singleplayer content instead of dragging their feet to ship co-op.. imagine if we ever ACTUALLY got those fable games that were canceled. I also feel like social experiences in games are lacking. Consoles now only ship with one controller, couch coop is a thing of the past. It seems like the need to sell a box out ways the need to get people great games and experiences. Interesting how when they announced the Meta parternship, there’s no mention of MS software, xbox vr, or really anything but empty promises from Xbox.

No surprise they want to increase GP again. It’s not a great service for revenue and executives won’t want to keep it at a low price when there’s a very high chance they can keep increasing the price and the vast majority pay it

Isn’t it already like $34 a month? That’s getting close to sale territory and ownership
Edit: you are correct

They just shutdown a bunch of studios that would have had their future games on Game Pass. They’re decreasing the value proposition of the service but they’re thinking of increasing the price?

I think Microsoft underestimated how strong core gamers are still attached to the idea of “owning” a game.
The best “value” to be able to play a game has not been the killer argument they thought it was.
Honestly I am kinda surprised myself that not more gamers are embracing GamePass.

I did the 3 year sub trick, last year but i find my self never using gamepass, even with fallout i ended up buying new vegas for like 4 bucks and all my most played games are from steam. I do think having cod on there would be interesting but not for a pay rise

Bruh im.not.paying for gamepass anymore of they sre willing to up the price

So more speculation with the sentences starting with “I heard” without a source, even tho they have been proven wrong time and time and time again.

I picked the right time to take a leap of faith and build my own PC instead of relying on my Series S to carry me through this gen of gaming.
What a shit show MS has been since the XBone announcement.
I couldn’t imagine fighting for scrap exclusives like rats based on what console I bought.

Game Pass was cheap at first in hopes to get people on the Xbox platform, that’s not happening, so they’re gonna charge the real price as it becomes less and less about promotion and more about operating as just a games service.

I have a feeling Microsoft is realising that gaming isnt as lucrative a business as it seems. I mean im sure azure earns them significantly more per dollar. So maybe they want to move the money around

Paying more for renting media?!

Great idea to consider raising the price of GP while gradually closing studios that are still producing creatively interesting games, and going back on your promise to put your flagship titles “day one” on the service. I can’t believe how much energy they spend changing direction for short term profit while the competition focus on delivering quality games on a regular basis. I’m now convinced Xbox is going to implode soon.
