I want good games made by people paid fittingly based on their workload.

Unless the cost changes based on the amount of content, wanting “less” for the same price is stupid.

I prefer projects of passion. And those projects usually don’t have hard deadlines to appease corporate.

Good games will be finished when they’re finished. The team will know when it’s ready, because it’s THEIR game.

And if it’s their game, they don’t have to hit a sales benchmark. They’re simply sharing their work of art.

Well, that’s just the rollercoaster of the gaming industry for you! Ups and downs, twists and turns, and lots of virtual tears.

Most dev studios made their best games in their indie years. Along the success come the suits to wring the most profit out of an IP or studio possible and they all devolve into the modern AAA (AAAA?) studios you see today.

    Play indie games!

Games as art and passion products are beautiful and incredibly fun.

Games as a commercial product are middling at best and absolute scams at the bad end.

i get they are businesses and they want to make money as much as possible. but they really think only in short term. we are customers with money, and that is all they care for

Every time let’s get posted, all I can think is there’s like a seventy percent chance you’re just lying and you don’t actually.

If you did, you’d buy less Triple-a / big budget games. And you’d buy more indie games. But these people almost never do

“Paid less to work more” and the meme is accurate

If you can spend 13 years to make a dud (Skull and Bones) and an afternoon to make a masterpiece (Minecraft) then it is obvious that the amount of money and time you spend on it is not important. There doesn’t need to be more visonless crap live services. There needs to be more publishers willing to make bigger risks on passionate studios.

I still maintain that Hollow Knight is better than anything “Quadruple A” publishers have released in the last decade.

Then buy those games, no ones forcing you to.

i Often see mods for games with better content and writing than official stuff. Fallout 4 for example has mods with full on cutscenes and events when the official stuff is mostly just npcs talking and then path finding to another spot without really interacting with the world or player.

I haven’t wanted to play a AAA game in years. Graphics don’t mean shit if it isn’t fun to play.

Bro, I’m fine with CoD 4 and RDR1 graphics tbh.

I love games that don’t try to do too much and just want to entertain me for a handful of hours.

Every game these days is so bloated because it seems like devs want you to only be able to play their game and not have time for anything else.

There are SO many of those. You could play them all year. That’s fine but I still enjoy the big games I can spend dozens or hundreds of hours in.

It’s funny that Sonic the Hedgehog said this, because it was what also described Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic ’06, and nearly the rest of Sonic’s 3D output as a whole.
