Apartment dweller and professional IT person. I don't have any eye for design. How can I dress this up to be a little more interesting? I think I need shelving and/or more storage to get my things off the floor. Wall art? Plants? Lighting?

Off topic but why isn’t the desk centered against the wall?

i think at first just work on cleaning everything up, do you need this to be in your setup or can it be stored somewhere else?

I would add some extra shelves on top or some wall decorations. Try to find a color scheme you like and stick to it

Less beige you say, paint it white? But you have a great setup already, cable management on point, clean and simple. But as the other comment says, why is the desk not centred? Also the desk looks a bit small for you, it’s a nice standing desk so instead of changing the desk maybe move the computer to the floor (on a stand) to make the desk less cramped. Shelves is a good idea, the vent is a bit in the way but would look good. A big mousepad can tie the setup more together and is comfy. A nice desk lamp or floor lamp with some warm light can make it cozy. If the keyboard is something with special features you like, keep it, but also check out r/mechanicalkeyboards. Good luck!

Paint the walls or get some mood lighting

I would paint it and then take burnt wooden wood pallet pieces across the top and than a shelf above the monitors and only put 2-3 items on it. I would also center the desk. And get a camera for the kiddo attached to your phone or whatever.
Also you didn’t ask for this part but a clamp stand for your laptop so it’s off of the desk. Same with the speakers if mount those somewhere than a large mousepad.

Paint the wall, get some art, don’t go RGB like a 12 year old.

Contact paper. It’s a decent non permanent solution since you rent and a lot of landlords aren’t cool with tenants painting the walls.

  9. Paint it green.

    Hang up an ornamental rug.

    Purchase a large painting.

    The options are limitless.
