Started Cyberpunk in November ’23. Bought a great game for $20.

What was everyone so mad about?

Pay $1 for game pass, play the campaign and cancel the subscription after

  3. I miss the good old days when humble bundle was consistently great.

Diablo taught me at a young age, wait until the expansion to decide if it’s worth it or not.

Then Diablo 3 reinforced that. And I’m gonna assume Diablo 4 has cemented that.

And added free dlcs and expansion packs.

Well, given that I usually buy games on sale, that also means that I simultaneously wait for the game to be patched up.

Paid like 35 dollars (CAD) for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and it was one of the funnest games I played in years. The sad part is, if no one is buying these games the odds of getting a sequel drop. Because Marvel’s Midnight Suns didn’t sell very well, we aren’t getting a sequel in all likelihood. And it was left open ended. Being patient is good and all, but strong numbers of day 1ers will be the reason a game gets a sequel or not.

Oh look it’s that thread of the day. Pre order bad, karma to the left.

  9. HardLithobrake

It’s quite sad that “months after release” isn’t safe anymore for a game purchase.

Mom said it’s my turn to farm karma with this take!

Playing a flash in the pan multiplayer only game months or years after release is not the same , there is the problem of deserted lobbies and almost never being able to get a game running , even if all the bugs that were present at launch are fixed.

    >Not buying the game after PSN account suddenly becomes a requirement 3 months after release, knowing the vast history of PSN being hacked and losing millions of customers passwords, credit card numbers, etc

  13. InkFather_TTV

It’s very rare when I day 1 purchase anymore. My likelihood of purchasing a game day 1 is a sliding scale, so to speak. The bigger the corpo behind it, the less likely i am to buy.

I was about 2 days from buying helldivers and saw that, I know I have a pan account from an old ps3 but I really don’t care to do this shit anymore, saw something about payday 2 needing epic, guess I’m done with that as well.

  15. SaintonoZ

Yep I almost was about to buy helldivers finally

“buying a game after it’s dead and getting no more updates”

  17. Aboy420_JoS_3

Waiting when game becomes dead abandonware and finally pirating it without consequences (because publishers don’t give a f)

  18. You can also get away with cheaper hardware that last you longer while running the games at maximum settings.

  19. Spore0147

Buying a key or account instead is the next level. Can’t believe people still buy from official stores tbh.

  20. Sion_forgeblast

I would say this is good for most games…. but sometimes you just know a game will be great and wanna be in on day 1, cuz your a fan of the series and the company has reliably been good to it’s community

  21. Milkyfluids69

Buying the game several years later when they release a definitive edition, on sale with all the DLCs included.

  22. Hydrated_Hippo28

Downloading the game for free on an obsolete games site when I can finally afford a computer that can run it.

  23. Randolph_Carter_Ward

Early Access is cancer upon gaming!

  24. kkinnison

stopped pre-purchasing games after Diablo 3

bought a game and couldn’t play it for months until they brought more servers online

Now i wait for a GotY edition or when the price drops.

Galaxy Brain: Buying the game of an Indie dev to support them instead of a megacorp

  26. techsuppr0t

I just bought battlefield 1 this year for like 5 dollars haha

  27. Pirating the game, met with 300 gigs of unoptimized game mess, happy

  28. larsloveslegos

*years later: when it’s dirt cheap

  29. Dhehjob9-5

Recently did this with Cyberpunk 2077. Never seen anything from day 1 and im happy I didn’t. I get a stable 60fps+ now with raytracing.

  30. El_Basho

Even bigger brain: waiting 10 years to get the game for free
