Recently started playing Mafia DE, its has got good story and movie like narration but wish the gameplay would've been better. Fighting and gun mechanics are still like the original mafia, no improvement at all.
TLDR: Mafia Definitive Edition is like the remade Midtown Madness which additionally has guns and a great story.

Gunplay and melee is completely different from the original game. You should replay the og and refresh your memory if you think otherwise.

I share pretty much the same opinion. Visuals and the story are both amazing but… The gameplay isn’t great unfortunately. The basics like the gunplay is mediocre.
All fun and games until you arrive at the car race mission
I tried it, quitted after a couple missions. Looks really good and all but gameplay is so unpleasant. Also idk what they did to Mafia 2, but that’s not how I remember that game to play like. Was one of my favourites back then.
This really needs a proper remake, an open world, historical game more like a GTA or Mafia3(with less repetativeness) would be amazing
Be warned: If you do the side missions, know that AT LEAST ONE of them is broken and will consistently crash the game once you complete it, which will be autosaving at the time, and will very likely corrupt your save file, breaking the game completely. The name of the mission is “Mister Fancy Bike”, and it’s a timed race with a performance bike.
To this day, this is probably the worst built game I’ve ever played, apart from a few old PS3 ports.
