I loved the TTRPG aspects, the life Sim aspects not so much. Good thing all of that is pretty easily skippable.
IGutlessIWonder
It didn’t reach critical acclaim but I’ve never seen anyone talk bad about midnight suns
Firvulag
Loved it. Blades bookclub is the sort of stuff we just dont see enough of in videogame storytelling.
TheViper4Life
As a massive superhero nerd, I didn’t care anything about this game when it came out as it’s not really my genre….but I heard nothing but good things about it, so I ended up buying the Legendary Edition when it was on sale several weeks ago. Haven’t gotten around to playing it yet…but fan word of mouth can be a powerful thing.
metalyger
It was really good, of course it would have been cool if it was more like X-Com where you move your squad around, but honestly the battles were very well done, especially when I typically avoid games with an RNG card mechanic. I just never could beat the last encounter with Crossbones, where he blows up the bridge in 3 turns.
I loved it (but the DLCs were a bit expensive with not a lot of content sadly)
Be_Tasty_B
The dialogs were kinda cringe and the gameplay was like a dumbed down xcom card game. Really the definiton of a “mid” game.
Fanskar1
will we ever get a sequel?😔
AmongUsUrMom
I’m upset for what it meant for XCOM 3.
IceBear_028
I enjoy it, but it doesn’t keep my attention consistently.
Kinda wish it was just turn based combat instead of the cards.
I like how bad ass Dr. Strange is, and Magik is awesome!
Dementia55372
I enjoyed it well enough but thought the story was kind of wearing thin toward the end. Hope it sold well enough to facilitate a more polished sequel with a wider scope.
Imrahil1
I think it’s more people didn’t even try it, but the ones that did really liked it.

Good. Enjoy what games you want to. Don’t let anyone else decide for you.
Trh5001
I just finished it this morning. It is a fun game for about the first 1/2, then gets i credibly repetitive.
I doubt it will ever happen, but I’d love to see what they could do with a second attempt.
Ambitious-Visual-315
I love it but holy shit does it get tough, love the missions and the card deck building. All the characters are fun to interact with. Love that they got Yuri Lowenthal to voice Spider-Man for this one.
BusterStarfish
There are a lot of really cool elements in this game. But it feels a little hodgepodged together, like it wasn’t sure what it wanted to be, and the combat gets crazy repetitive.
SkynBonce
I’m gonna say this, the game left money on the table by not letting you romance characters.
If you’re character could have been the meat in a Captain America/Marvel sandwich, it would have sold gangbusters!
The sexless, pointless social bonding bullshit, dragged this game.
Either commit to adult relationships, or remove them completely.
SlothDuster
It’s a great game in all regards except one, pacing.
Constantly feels like being pulled aside from whatever you are focusing on or heading towards to do something else completely unrelated to the task at hand.
kirutli
I LOVED this game. Played the shit out of it and all the DLC to get all the trophies on PS. I thought it was really well made.
red_tuna
Very neat game that suffered from probably one of the worst marketing campaigns I can remember.
Blegheggeghegty
Love it.
goatjugsoup
I think its more accurate to say a lot of people didnt try it…
TotallyRedditLeftist
It was all the things I hated about Fire Emblem 3 Houses but with an amazing combat system
tempting_tomato
Game was a blast loved the combat and story
MuNansen
Impressed the hell out of me. Would be in my GotY running for whatever year that was
Ok_Buffalo6474
I enjoyed it! Not worth the price but I had fun even with the clubs and hangouts.

One of the best games I’ve played in a while. Avoided it cause I heard bad things. Bought it last month and lived it. But I can see why it doesn’t jive with everyone. Sim life stuff isn’t for everyone. Game is grindy without mods, and the combat is more casual than XCOM2 and a bit more flat. XCOM 2 has verticality that Midnight Suns lacks. But I loved it.
night_dude
It was 90% of the perfect game I imagined. I found the combat a little frustrating, I didn’t think the card system was realyl necessary. It felt like they added it in to make the game seem less “tactical” to appeal to a wider audience.
As a big XCOM, RPG and Marvel fan, though, I will always appreciate having a game so specifically catered to my interests, even if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted 😁
And Blade’s book club was flawless, no notes. I loved Ghost Rider too.
TheW1ldcard
Idk. I put like 75 hours into it and loved everything about it.
Master_Chief_00117
I was hyped for it then it wasn’t what I was hoping for (idk what I was expecting) learned that it was a card battler got it in a humble bundle because it gives games for my steam deck turns out it’s more fun than I expected.
BurnerDanBurnerMan
I’ve never heard of someone actively saying they did not like this game. I’ve heard a lot of people say, “I’m not a superhero guy, but midnight suns was a lot of fun.”
Who did you hear this from? Or should I say: which publication?
khmergodzeus
it is janky but gameplay is pretty good
Middle_Oven_1568
You’re allowed to like shit people hate. They’re going to shit all over everything to fuel their egos anyway.
