Call of Duty: Zombies

Did you know? | ‘Buried’ was initially a lot more post-apocalyptic ─ inspired by the abandoned NYC metro.

“I originally pitched a level about an underground city inspired by the abandoned tunnels in New York, this would become a team favorite for it's eerie underground world leading to the inception of Buried. New Buildables I designed included the HeadChopper that Players could place on any surface to chop apart the undead foes, and the Subwoofer which interplayed with the old Turbine buildable to create a deadly blast of audio to fling away zombies.”

“We knew we wanted a mansion underground, so that got me thinking of a garden in the back as an opportunity to fight zombies. I laid out and designed a hedge move with shifting walls and zombies reaching out to slow down the player through the walls ─ a very high risk to want to go through it but a big reward of Pack-a-Punch awaited players at the end of it.”

“The PvP mode I designed, Turned, returned again as players now took the role of zombified brothel workers.”

I honestly would've loved a more post-apocalyptic, grounded experience.. no pun intended.
‘Buried’ always stood out to me because of its outlandish setting, compared to the prior ‘Broken Earth’ maps ─ and not in a good way.

I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts, so feel free to let me know! and hopefully you learned something new today!

Damn… Really wished we had more Victis Maps that could’ve explored more into the fractured earth story, but nope, Tranzit and Die Rise’s reception dampened it.

Very cool! Never seen this before. Reminds me of a destroyed Shadows of Evil

  3. This looks like something I’d see in the Batman Arkham City concept art gallery. The concept is quite interesting and would feel a bit like Shadows plus the underground maze from Buried.

I love buried and it is my favorite map. The atmosphere and vibe is just so perfect to me. Then you have Leroy who is just awesome lol and he has so many features as well. Building wall weapons and the witches house used to scare the fuck out of me when I’d play the map all alone. How you get close to the house and you can hear her whispering shit it’s just genuinely haunting in its own way. Map catches a lot of flack cause it is very easy as you are overpowered but I don’t mind it too much. Fucking with the time bomb, Flying with the paralyzer, old western HUD and tunes, the maze that changes everytime, just so many things that add so much originality to this map. It definitely is a one of a kind map and in my eyes it is a masterpiece. Also being a COTD fan I love how they used the Scavenger explosion noise from that map for the Subsurface Resonator noise. Really just adds that lore to it. I just love it. lol
