Jesus, people really need to get a life.

  2. No_Obligation_1500

    Should leave it in.
This wasn’t intentional and is absolutely not something to get your panties twisted over.
The people who look this deep just to have something else to hate on the game for deserve to suffer in their own mindset if they refuse to be treated for their mental illnesses. Stop pandering to these people.

  3. NeverEnding3333

People will literally be offended by anything they can. Just like the Monster Hunter movie that had to cut the scene “What kind of knees are these?”

  4. deceitfulninja

I literally was looking at the picture trying to figure it out forever. People who go through life constantly scanning details for something to get triggered over, especially when its clearly not intentional is really getting to me nowadays.

  5. Immediate-Comment-64

I want to know who was actually offended by this.

  6. Chippai_Fan

Don’t see why people care either way. It’s both unintentional and an easy fix.

  7. fode_fuceta

Media shitlet is going mad over the success of this game so they need to make shitty reasons to shit on the game

  8. REPTILEOFBLOOD

Was there anyone actually offended by that? If so, when is the game industry going to stop listening to them?

  9. Babyshaker88

Jesus, I can’t believe I just pulled a Linus and kept thinking “but anyone of any race can have mental disabilities, how exactly is this racist?”

  10. Praetor-Rykard2

there more people are upset about them removing it then there are upset about it being there to begin with

  11. ShingetsuMoon

I’m not at all surprised that a non English dev studio missed this and I wouldn’t expect them to understand the connotations of it.

But it does make me ask where everyone else was along the way during the game’s development and localization. No one else caught it and told them about what it could mean to an English audience until just before release? Really?

For those confused, the art accidentally spells “hard R”, which is another way to say the n-word with “-er”, a racial slur against black people with a very bad history behind it for any non-Americans. Whether you think it is an overreaction or not, that’s the reason it’s being removed.

  13. _Tar_Ar_Ais_

that’s it? lol not like anyone going into anaphylactic shock when they see it

  14. BerkutBang69

I hate games journalists. More than traffic

  15. we_are_sex_bobomb

What’s being ignored in a lot of the discourse surrounding this is, “what does it cost to change this so it doesn’t bother anyone?”

And the answer is that it takes one environmental artist about five minutes.

More effort and energy has been expended arguing about whether this is necessary than it takes to just get rid of it.

When it takes so little to eliminate a controversy, what is the problem with removing it? It’s not like this is intrinsic to Stellar Blade’s artistic vision.

Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to avoid offending anyone but in this case it actually takes very little, so why would anyone insist on keeping it?

Sony: “that was unintentional, but we don’t want accidental racism in our game either, and swapping it out is a trivial change that has no effect on gameplay, so we’ll change it real quick”

A million redditors: “Noooo the snowflakes are winning! Give us back our accidental racism!”

  17. Barry_Bunghole_III

I think any black person would laugh their ass off at that

Only white women get offended by this shit lol

  18. I like this change because it befuddles the chuds holding this game up as the anti-woke messiah.

  19. zg_mulac

Jesus H. Christ, the game isn’t even out yet, and the Americans are already offended by something.

  20. HoLLoWzZ

This is embarrassing. Who the hell gets offended by this. And what kind of mental gymnastics does one have to undergo to see racism there. It’s absurd. Developers should do as they please. Games are art and no one has the right interfere there

  21. GraviticThrusters

Wait, the phrase “hard r” which is a description of one of the two ways you can say a slur, is itself a slur? Do people use it as a slur? Do we need to come up with an auxiliary description of the description? I propose “the phrase describing a strong letter pronunciation of a slur”.

  22. Tarc_Axiiom

    Nah that’s obviously coincidental.

But the fact that it created a problem is hilarious. Bullshit, but hilarious.

  23. DeskFluid2550

    That’s quite a stretch.

If you weren’t actively looking for racist shit, I’m sure people would have just walked past it. I’m gonna say it, whoever found it and posted it and made it a big deal, has DEFINITELY said worse in call of duty lobbies.

  24. overtheta

Hard R. WTF? Can someone explain how this is racist???

  25. PixeL8xD

It was clearly unintentional, if anything cultural indifference
