I remember the first time I ran a speed test on my gigabit connection. My inner 13 year old screamed “holy shit” because I used to have a 28.8 baud dialup connection back in the day.

Op you’ll get a better image by using the screenshot tool, would eliminate the glare at least

  3. If you think it’s cool now, wait till you make a file in Program Files (x86)/Steam called steam_dev.cfg

and put in it one line that is `@ fDownloadRateImprovementToAddAnotherConnection 1.0`

(with no space between the @ and the f, had to space it because reddit auto turns it into a user reply code) Compare your before and after game download speeds from adding that and not adding that. It’s like you’re overclocking steam downloads. Oh and because your upload speed is so good, you can ACTUALLY use Remote Play Together without any trouble now.

I remember what it was like to get fiber optic for the first time, sucks I moved away from that place and I’m back on cable internet. It would cost more per month if I upgraded back to fiber but I’d do it in a heartbeat *if it was simply available in this neighborhood.*

i felt the same upgrading from 8mbps to 250mbps.

If only I could have anything higher than 50 download and 5 upload

With these speeds, we don’t need roads.

  7. CounterSYNK

Divide that by 8 to get the actual speed.

  8. the sad thing is, you won’t notice any difference until you need to update flight sim.

I just upgraded to fiber, and now I have to figure out what to do with all this upload.

My download is the same with cable, upload obviously isn’t. Must be low tier fiber or, more likely, you have a bottleneck somewhere.

Same speed I get in the UK for 25£ a month 😋

Happy. For. You. (From Australia on 80/30 Mbps DSL)

  13. nightlyraider

my upload is faster than my download on my fiber 99% of the time. normally like 960/980

Honestly how do people do this, here we have fiber, most expensive internet package. I have a 1Gig router connected to the modem, a 1Gig wifi extender and still my ethernet gives ~250mbps. While wireless on phone it gives ~960mbps?!

  15. Andrewskyy1

Why isnt 10gig fiber available everywhere 1gig fiber is?

  16. Sanvirsingh

Me with 50download and 5 upload

Now you get to find out that everything loads at the same speed as it did when you had 20mb.

Downloading large files or doing speed tests (same thing) is the only time it’s helpful.

  20. stiizy13

    800 upload?!?! wtf.

I pay for 1.2gb/s and it’s fantastic but I only get 60mbps upload.

  21. MurccciMan

Got denied fiber due to corruption. I really do enjoy 2,5 mb internet speed on a lucky day.
