In order to have fans in my case I need to have…8 power wires, 8 rgb wires, 3????? boxes that all do the same thing? 3 power cords for those, 2 cords for sata I guess? And a cord to connect the two to the pc.
That means I have at the very least 20 wires and 12×1 inches of space taken up just to provide the cooling I want in my case.
Why? Why is this still the go to? Why do I have to spend 4x the price of one fan for magnetic fans? Why do I need so many boxes just to have your bloatware understand “oh my we have fans!” Its ridiculous.

Self inflicted. Black Noctua fans and NH-D15 is all I need.
Corsair iCUE LINK is a god send. RGB, fan speed & power thru a single cable. The products are daisy chainable and the hub is very small.
Daisy-chainable fans are a godsend.
Thermaltake and some others do 1 cable fans. They are thicker and you have to use their controller but it quite tidy. And the tt sync controller can do 9 per controller. Corsair and some others do interlocking fans that further reduce cable clutter although they are pretty expensive. A lesser cost and still good option is asiahorse. They have a 9 pack of good fans that use a single 6 pin cable. Still have to use their controller but it also will hold 9 or 10 fans
Pc components are modular and universal so we are just going to be stuck like this for a while, honestly I’d rather it be this way than proprietary parts, at least I can change my case and keep all the components.

4 pin 12v RGB fans that plug in to the mobo for the win. Take that silly proprietary ARGB fans connections.

How do you play with RGB on and stay focused on the gameplay with the Christmas tree lights in your face? Never understood it.
Thermaltake riing quad fans only need 1 wire each.

This is why I haven’t bought any RGB Corsair fans, ever. They have like 4 or more different proprietary connections/controllers that are not interoperable with each other. They can’t just be connected to a STANDARD header (12v/5v) and you’re trapped with iCue (which is better than most other RGB software). This isn’t just a Corsair problem, but they are the worst offenders here.
Buy fans that follow the PWM/RGB/ARGB standard and it’s much simpler and can even use open source RGB software like OpenRGB or SignalRGB.
I bought ThermalRight ARGB fans and a ThermalRight PWM/ARGB Hub because they use standard connectors. All the ARGB and case fans are connected to the hub and the PWM wires for my AIO are connected to the 2nd CPU PWM header on the mobo to be controlled seperately from the case fans. I use [Fan Control](https://getfancontrol.com/) to control the fan speeds depending on CPU/GPU load and OpenRGB for lighting control.
My take, rgb isnt worth all this cable mess. Just some a12x25 and my airflow is enough that my temps at idle are never over 30c (at load, 60-70)

I dont even have stealth black, its just a mix of colors that were cheapest/performance.

lian li sl infinitys were a godsend for me. ton of room in the back of the case cause it’s just one hub linked to two cables for six fans. easy :p
Not the standard though. Only if you’re buying a lot of RGB components, which isn’t necessary or required.
Because the proprietary solution locks the user into single ecosystem. The best solution is the user making their own wiring with all connectors to complete task.
This is exactly why I’m replacing everything with Lian Li.
Corsair has become obnoxious and now their matching daisy chain tech is double the price for less fans.
I get better performance, reverse blades(if needed) and somehow a better program. After being a Corsair fanboy for so long they can honestly shove it. Not getting another dime.
It sounds like you need these things. It’s a decision you made to get RGB and magnetic fans, you are not forced to get them.
It’s way cleaner if you just get basic noctua fans .

To be fair…you don’t need any of that shit to have fans on your case…
this is literally why I ditched RBG. Well that and I decided to try mini itx which definitely doens’t have the room for any more cables. I actually kind of like my all black look I ended up swapping all my RGB fans with Noctua and the only RGB I have now are the RGB accents that come with hardware. I think from nows on if the RGB needs a hub or all these extra cables to function I just won’t bother it gets too messy too fast.
Might consider one of those new daisy chain solutions like iCUE link in the future once they become more of a standard and prices drop if that ever happens. My atx build would have needed nearly a $1000 investment to replace all Corsair components with the new iCUE Link. At that point I’d might as well buy a new CPU or GPU or heck go from AM4 to AM5

MSI board, MSI 360AIO, several other 120RGB fans… mine have header cables that feed into the MOBO at labeled intervals. Am I missing something by not having a control box? My lights work, they can be programmed, and my wiring is dead simple since most of the fans are daisy chainable. Easy breezy.
When i installed rgb the first time my first thought was “here we go again, back to the times were each company has it’s own standard” and here you have it in one picture. Different cables, different boxes all for the same function of running a fan and controlling some lights. All different softwares that do the exact same thing.
