I personally like them, even if some of them felt a little bit wasted.

I wouldn’t mind for the next game. We get more missions by these guys to do

Gang prescence was solid for the time that they had for the most part

But 6th street definitely needed more to do. Same with the animals and mayyyybe the wraiths as well.

In a perfect 2077 game each gang would be fleshed out with rep and rewards but I’m cool with what we got also

  2. bratisla_boy

This game could use a reputation system like Freelancer, with gigs to do with gangs that give you good rep with them but bad rep with others. Instead of the fixer gigs and ncpd hotspots, you would get gang gigs and squads to clean for a given gang. If you get bad enough reputation with a gang, this one sends you from time to time hit squads.

  3. vergorli

valentinos were kinda the wordt background. I know the general guidlinies from all the other gangs, but Valentinos are just your average drugdealer gang….

  4. Blue-Sand2424

My enemies are Maelstrom, Scavs, and 6th Street

I’m indifferent to the Tyger Claws and Voodoo Boys but if they get in my way or even mildly inconvenience me I won’t resist to blast them

Im cool with The Mox and Aldecaldos because of the Panam/Judy connection and I try my best to be cool with the Valentinos but it’s hard because of some forced combat encounters

  5. SerGeffrey

I mean they’re all dirtbags. Scavs and Raffen are a special kind of evil, Maelstrom is a special kind of insane. And the Pacifica VDBs are uniquely dangerous due to being a dangerous combination of being incredibly reckless and highly intelligent and capable.

Valentinos, Tyger Claws, 6th Street, Animals – run of the mill street thugs. Afterlife mercs, amoral clout chasers. Barghest, also run of the mill street thugs, under a very thin veil of legitimacy.

All great enemies! I love to hate em 🙂

  6. I respect Mox & Maelstrom. The rest can eat lead.

  7. pichael289

Scavs, desert scavs, and malestrom die immediately. Sixth Street die after I mock them, too much like my shitty neighbors in Ohio. The others are situational.

Actually, what am I saying? Anyone or anything with a yellow arrow dies. Period. I need loot.

I like the mox, and the animals believe it or not. A hookers union and a bunch of steroid boxers.

  8. 66watchingpeople66

The only ones I don’t kill on sight are the Mox, and the Valentinos. Scabs, Wrath’s, and especially Maelstrom I could be on my way because Panam needs me and I’m going to stop to turn them inside out.

  9. squiggly187

Maelstrom is a hard concept for me to believe. These guys walk around with militated faces and sections of their face literally still open (you can see red flesh around implants) why would anyone do that???????

  10. ACynicalScott

They’re all really cool and all feel aesthetically fleshed. The unique themes slap.

I think there’s a favoritism towards the more unique gangs which is fine it can be a bit tiring when i spend quite a bit the game fighting the same 3 gangs for a majority.

  11. brokensaint82

VDB and Scavs are on sight for me. Tygers, Animals, and Vaentinos are ok at best, I don’t go outta my way to go after them. 6th Street can vary between on sight and ok. Maelstrom I give space, simply cuz they kinda freak me out with as much chrome as they got and the skin stretched out. Gives me some weird vibes. And The Mox I honestly forget are even a gang half the time.

That said I wish the gangs were a little more fleshed out rather than being basic enemies. Like I’m not talking doing missions for them, though I do think a rep system would be cool. But also a progressive mission system where a gang hires a fixer to get you to hit other gangs, or install malware.

Also more diversity in gangs. Not like racial diversity, but more tactics diversity. Like Maelstrom with their chrome would have more Sandevistan and mantis blades users. VDB would be more about netrunning. Tyger Claws would have more Katana and SMG users. Animals would have mainly melee. 6th Street would have more varied, military like tactics. Stuff like that.

And I would have more interactions between the gangs, like a hierarchy of the gangs. With updates about gang wars, and even a possibility of a gang being so worn down that they almost disappear from the game due to attacks by other gangs or V.

  12. upgradestorm5

Valentinos literally just wanna chill and rizz up women.

  13. TheChihuahuaChicken

I put the gangs into tiers based on their overall actions.

Evil: Maelstrom, Scavs, Wraiths, VDB*. There’s really no redeeming qualities in these gangs. They actively target innocents for fun, kill indiscriminately, and are engaged in some truly evil side rackets like organ harvesting and snuff films. *VDB are literally trying to *destroy the world*.

Very Bad: Tyger Claws. They’re pretty brutal and their street members are nothing more than thugs, but the leadership is at least trying to steal the Tyger Claws towards profit and restraint, maintaining the organized part of organized crime. But their rackets are still horrible, including human trafficking.

Bad: 6th Street and Valentinos. These guys are obviously violent and dangerous, but they are primarily drug dealers and protection rackets. They are murderers, but they also don’t seem to go out of their way to target innocent people.

Slightly Bad: The Mox, Animals, Barghest. These gangs are the closest thing you’ll see to legitimacy in Night City. They seem to be content in their roles, are not warring with other gangs, and don’t want to expand their territory. Again, they are still not *good*, but in Night City good is a stretch.

  14. misho8723

I love how different all of them are, both in looks and tactics.. and places where they operate

Maybe even thanks to this game has probably the most hand-crafted NPC models in all videogames

  15. GilroySmash1986

In a perfect world, the gangs would be run on the Nemesis system. I’ve only had one or two retaliation attacks from gangs after main missions, but outside of ncpd missions they’re just kind of anonymous.

  16. tost_boi

    Is good

But more lore would help a lot

I want more of that dialogue where u ask river witch gang is worse and he talks about how the vals have special rules and punishments

    That’s really good

  17. CrazeMase

Valentinos, Sixth Street, and The Animals are the only ones who can get a pass since they’re all just people, every other gang is kill on sight

  18. Dreadlock43

everyone bar the Mox, the Aldecardos and NCPD and Barghiest are Kill on sight with varying degrees of extreme prejudice for me

    KoS list is as follows:

    1a.scavs

    1b.Tyger Claws

    1c.VDB

    1d.Maelstrom

    1e. Shiv

    2a. Six Street

    2b. Corpo goons

    3.Valentinoes

    4.Animals

  19. jazzmanbdawg

I dont discriminate, they are all good for loot and skill XP – except the Mox, everyone else makes for great street fodder

  20. TactickleTimmie

You mean the cybergoths, republicans, Latinos and Haitians.

  21. loseranon17

Valentinos and Mox are cool. Dum Dum is cool. Killing Brigitte and Placide is very cathartic

  22. Pavo_Feathers

I have a “shoot on sight” policy in regards to Tyger Claws, Scavs and Maelstrom. Gang I ended up liking the most was Barghest.

  23. TelemichusRhade

Who is that in the top right picture? Don’t recognise him.

  24. Istvan_hun

    Special treatment, gameplay wise:

1: Mox. I don’t antagonize them, almost never get into a fight with them. The closest I think to a generally friendly gang.

2: Scavs. While I usually don’t mind killing gangbangers in this game, scavs get special treatment. After the combat is over, I do a round and headshot any survivors.

    Lore, involvment:

    * I think the most fleshed out gangs (maelstrom, tyger claws, barghest) are interesting enough
    * some others could have used some more gigs (mox, animals, wraiths)
    * special about voodoo boys: Pacifica proper (=/= dogtown) feels like a really wasted region in the game. The caribbean atmosphere, which is there in the voodoo boys mission (when you walk about with Placide) is missing from everything else. This district could have been special, but is basically a worse Watson Northside.
    * personally, I would have preferred a bit more high life content (like working for “good” corps against “evil” corps, or stuff like Lizzy Wizzy) than additional gang content

  25. Commercial_Juice_201

I feel like gang interactions was a missed opportunity for a rep system, including up to joining one of them; and potentially their own quest lines for the gang you join.

As for the gangs themselves, Marlstrom and Scavs are terrifying. 6th St seems like backwoods militants. Valentinos and Tyger Claws remind me of a regular street gang. Animals, well…animals I just don’t get. Lol

VDB and Mox I’m not sure on, because honestly outside the story parts I don’t think about them. Lol I think by the time I was doing Pacifica content I was skimming the shards…

  26. As someone who can hear Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese, the Cantonese is awful lol.

The Mandarin and Japanese are all on point. But in a mission where you bring a shard to some “Chinese dude”, that guy speaks Cantonese instead of Mandarin. That Cantonese is awful.

Otherwise I think these gangs and corpos using the corresponding languages are good cosmopolitan design really showing the diversity of the Night City.

But please be fair to Cantonese, pretty, please?

My other complaint is how they pronounce Arasaka as Erasaka as if he only knows that corporation by written words and has never heard other people mention it. Same to Kang Tao because people are calling them Keng Tao.

  27. Own_Entrepreneur7289

    Barghest is cool

    Maelstrom is psycho gang

  28. MackTuesday

    My ranking:

    1. Mox — closest thing to “good”
    2. NCPD and Barghest — usually won’t shoot you for getting too close
    3. FIA — callous but civilized
    4. Valentinos — some sense of honor
    5. Tyger Claws and Animals (tie) — thugs
    6. VDB — so insular, why?
    7. 6th Street — not just thugs, trashy nationalist thugs
    8. Maelstrom — savage
    9. Scavs — worse than trash

Don’t really know much about the Raffen Shiv or the Wraiths.

Too close to the Aldecaldos to judge them, but they’d probably be in the top 3.

  29. They all explode well when point blank with shotgun.

  30. BarryAllensMom

What gang is the top right photo?

I can totally understand if people wanted to join one of these games, but CP77 is a narrative heavy game in an open world. If anything, I wish Afterlife/Rogue had a faction that you could have joined.

CP77 is a very lonely game. No one wants to work with you, but Fixers are lining up to give you gigs. That’s probably why the few gigs where you have a companion stick out so well; you actually fight with someone and not just the ghost in your head bitching the whole time. Kudos to also Phantom Liberty making the companions text you a lot more – that added a lot of immersion I didn’t realize I needed.

I have a hard time playing evil characters – gosh I tried so hard in BG3 and couldn’t do it. I don’t know if I could join any of these gangs, but if I hah to pick; I’d choose Barghast, 6th Street or Valentinos. Both of them have a sense of “Order or Lawful” behaviors. 6th Street is just a bunch of wronged ex-military trying to find a band of companions in a broken world. Valentinos seem to have some sort of code too – and try not to push too many boundaries on the upper limit of what they can reach. Mox falls into this category as well – but alas, I don’t identify as female. The rest of the gangs are pure evil and more chaos than anything. Side note – fuck Barghast. I do not want to live in Dogtown.

  31. byfo1991

Maelstrom, Wraiths, Tyger Claws, Voodoo Boys and especially Scavs are on sight. There is no scenario in which I will let any of those fuckers live. And I will go out of my way to kill every single member in the area.

6th Street, Barghest and Animals are usually on sight but there can be few exceptions to be made.

Valentinos only if the mission warrants it but I am not above killing them.

Mox are my girls and Aldecaldos I do not really consider a gang.

  32. GargoyleDX

Barghest could easily expand I feel. Dogtown as a district stronghold, holding whole Pacifica would be easy task too. Then they would roll over ‘Tinos and 6th Street and take over Glen and Rancho. Set little deal here and there with corpos to chill around their industrial crap and thats that.

Could they took over the whole NC at one point? Maybe?

  33. Escaped_Mod_In_Need

    Let’s go down the list:
    – Scavengers – shotgun up the bum, pull the trigger. Monsters that deserve no mercy for their actions.
    – Maelstrom – Sadists and rapists, see Scavs above for treatment options. Add some cayenne to the recipe to make it spicy.
    – The Mox – deserve your support. Don’t fuck with the Mox.
    – Tyger Claws – Human trafficking PoS also get no quarter.
    – 6th Street – Too MAGA-like. I’ll leave them alone if they keep quiet, but if they talk shit even once I start blasting kneecaps.
    – Animals – annoying testosterone cocktail junkies. I leave them be unless they are actively harming someone or looking to scrap.
    – Voodoo Boys – initially I left them alone, but when I learned of their plans things changed. Leaders and figureheads of the gang and the muscle are fair game. Leave the women and kids out of it, they have a chance to change. If the Voodoo Boys are so anxious to experience what is beyond the Blackwall then they are welcome to it… but not by taking the wall down. They can Children of the Ark themselves beyond the Blackwall for all I care, but they won’t be doing that shit to NC.
    – Valentinos – for the most part I am okay with them, so long as they don’t act like the asshats on the TV show Jersey Shore.
    – Aldecaldos – don’t mess with em. They’re just trying to survive and provide for their people.
    – Wraiths – see Scavs for instructions. Kidnappers, murders, human traffickers and rapists get no quarter.

  34. OutrageousOrdinary61

I personally have a rule that i shot on sight scavs and maelstrom, the rest only for the job.

  35. Broke-bo1

I was really wishing for some type of karma system for the gangs where you would walk into different territories and depending on how much the gang disliked you enemies would spawn on you

  36. dankspankwanker

My biggest enemies were definitely the Voodoo boys.

I mean i fucked up netwatch and then killed all of them

  37. faux_shore

If you’re a gang-goon you’re my enemy, these mantis blades are rated E for everyone

  38. Loud_Fail3603

Kinda expected to see more human trafficking between Tyger Claws and scavs (that one NCPD marker where you kill a group of tyger claws near the containers are trafficking people which you can save).
Also how are there no mentions of cannibalism between the Animals ? Or the fact that there are barely any actual scav hideouts in the game ? They’re supposed to be a huge and widespread gang focused on organ and implant harvesting yet you only see a handful of operating tables in their bases through the entire game and DLC. I feel like there should have been more Mox quests, and since they’re marked as allies it would be nice to have a quest where you team up with them more directly rather than through a fixer (Regina in that shobo gig) and also more Rita Wheeler please for the love of god-
BARGHEST are from gameplay wise just a crafting component farm with how frequently you bump into groups of them paired with how small dogtown is making them equally as prominent as the civilian population of the area.
Really wish you could interact with gangs based on your stats, for example : if you have 20 str you could initiate brutal cage fights with Animals which would reward you with a reusable steroid item, 20 in tech would let you compare show off equipment to maelstromers and increase your cyberware capacity, 20 int allowing you to spook deep diving VDBs and buffing your RAM recovery rate, 20 reflex triggering random encounters in kabuki with strong Tyger Claw enemies that can only be killed by melee weapons which reward you with new moves like a seppuku that halves your hp but increases attack speed and grants a unique 0.5% lifesteal buff, and 20 cool allowing you to participate in shooting games against 6th street members and Aldecaldos which give you a hand implant that allows bullets to ricochet multiple times with the bullets dealing more damage to a target the more times they bounce off of surfaces before hitting the target.

  39. Responsible-Dish-297

After meeting Placide the Voodoo boys are my Personal pain Pinatas. I see voodoo, I blast.

Scavs & ‘Stromers get the same treatment.

Tygers, 6th Street, Valentinos & Barghest at least serve their communities to a certain degree. They provide services that offset their harm to a degree.

Maelstrom & the Scavs are parasites, and the Voodoo are literally trying their best to usher in the cyberpocalypse.

  40. I like that they’re there, but I’d have liked a reputation system

  41. LordDeathScum

Every Voodoo boys and tyger claws member i meet is dead, the rest more or less indifferent. Still kill them for the XP.

  42. LetMeDieAlreadyFuck

Scavs: Trash, insert “know your place trash” meme

VDB: Call me a ranyon one more time and I’ll reunite you with Bridget

Tyger Claws: Guys you aren’t cool even if you spell it with a y, now tell me y Wakako is okay with me offing yall?

Animals: Guys, enough is enough that shit looks painful

Valentinos: Honestly respect, love Padre and the Santa Madre, yall do work

    Barghest: Barely an inconvenience.

Maelstrom: I’ll party with yall any day, yall cool af

    I don’t know who I’m forgetting
