Ubisoft never fails to go the extra mile to shoot themselves in the foot.

So, another game not to buy. I’m saving so much $$

  2. Ubisoft games have been extremely half assed for 5+ years now so the game will have to be good before a pre-order bonus matters.

  3. BitterWest

So fitting for what Star Wars has become.

  4. AveryWildman95

Ubisoft sucks and all but why are people acting like this isn’t everywhere nowadays?

Again the outrage is justified but why now?

  5. Inevitable_Soft4897

don’t you guys just love gaming in 2024

  6. What the hell is a single player season pass?

  7. Gunfreak2217

People pretending missions haven’t been locked before arbitrary purchases before? It’s never going to change. We lost the battle when these companies realized idiots would buy 60$ skins for their characters in first person games when they can’t even see it lmao.

  8. Mcprosehp2

I’m pretty sure Ubisoft just made an announcement saying the Jabba mission is now available for everyone.

  9. Just wait a few months after launch and you’ll be able to find an ultimate edition of the game that includes the season pass for $40-$50.

  10. JohnnyJayce

Fun fact, RDR2 also locked missions behind a paywall but no one’s bringing that up. Games been doing this for a long time. Even the beloved ones.

  11. DastardlyDoctor

This is a misinformation campaign.  Devs have already said that Jabba is one of the main story mission givers,  and that there’s just extra in the dlc. Which is what DLC is, extra shit for those who want it

  12. LovesFrenchLove_More

Ah, a life without Ubisoft and it’s launcher is so nice.

  13. Hopeful-Claim7205

I remember saying how cheap and horrible it is for a 70 dollar game to have so much dlc. I was downvoted.

  14. Blacketh

I mean I was prolly just gonna get the standard edition anyway. Not sure why I should want a Jabba mission

  15. Matto_McFly_81

Smash Bros had day one DLC years ago. Loads of games have had missions you could “unlock” at launch. Single player season passes are just as old. Why is everyone dumping on this game? Oh wait, because “Hur due Ubisoft sux” is the default.

  16. mynamepeter

OMG OUTRAGE. HOW COULD A GAMING COMPANY DO SOMETHING SCUMMY??

  17. Papa_Pred

I’m gonna be honest, they’ve been doing this since Assassin’s Creed 2. While it’s not good, I’m really curious why it’s only just getting attention *now*?

  18. LeSaunier

If you ever buy another Ubisoft game, you lose the right to whine about modern gaming for ever.

  19. SeaworthinessDue6093

I’ll sale the high seas when ever it comes out I’m not in a hurry to play this at all.

  20. Nathan-David-Haslett

Jesus people, this “scandal” is such b.s. So many bloody games have small DLC missions exlusive to different shit. Hell this is just behind the fucking season pass, which if you want more missions you’ll buy the DLC anyways, and buying them in the season pass is cheaper than individually.

This isn’t a preorder mission (which so many games have). This isn’t some subscription or console exclusive, it’s the season pass.

  21. Just wait a year and you’ll get this game and all the dlc for cheaper than the base game for sure

  22. summons72

Can we drop this horribly fake outrage. This is nothing new, the mission is inconsequential and 100% optional. Same thing every company has done for 15 years. Yawn, boring, stop being a hive mind a learn to think for yourself.

  23. I don’t keep up with all the games controversies the last few years, isn’t this common?

Doesn’t PlayStation have specific quest lines and stuff in Destiny/Hogwarts

Isn’t “locking a mission behind a season pass” just another way of saying “Jabba the hutt is the first dlc for this game” especially specifying “(for a single player game)”

Isn’t this like saying “The Witcher 3 is locking Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone behind a season pass (for a single player game!!!)”

  24. orangemoon44

I’m really confused here. Did everyone suddenly forget who Ubisoft is? Or what a season pass is? Usually, season passes for single-player games involve new missions. Why is this news? Why are we acting shocked? What makes this different from anything else?

  25. THis is just day 1 DLC but with the FOTM season pass paint spashed over it. Not saying its not right but this has been going on for over a decade

  26. Jabba and his clan is stillpart of the maingame, this is a small dlc mission in addition like so many games have done before. Why all the fuss?

  27. Karlos-Jr

OP doesnt know that its only a single mission and base game will have Jabbas missions, but hey – “never fail to dissapoint”

  28. Goldman250

ONE of Outlaws’ Jabba the Hutt missions is locked behind a Season Pass. Jabba’s in the damn trailer, they’re not locking his only appearance behind a paywall.

  29. tangiblenoah67

A season pass or battle pass? If it’s a season pass, that’s means it’s dlc. Yes it’s a bit scummy but what’s the issue with an optional dlc

  30. You can rightfully hate on Ubisoft, but this’s been a thing not just in their games, but in other SP games as well. RDR2 has an exclusive mission behind a pre-order bonus. And I think several Far Crys also have exclusive missions. They’re almost never worth even talking about, but it’s still scummy. And yet: This started years ago, and nobody seemed to complain.

  31. DeltaMaximus

Nice work Ubisoft, saved me $100. I’ll def put that money toward a different game. All jokes aside, the take off and landing of this game is bad. It’s like Starfield where you have to choose a map location, unlike No Mans Sky where you can dive into and out of atmospheres and fly over terrain and pick the spot right there on the fly. As trivial as it sounds, you want that level of space flight experience.

  32. ResponsibleBee1909

Aren’t season passes common in single-player games? The title of this thread seems to imply that it’s an outrageous new trend. Gamers have already spoken with their wallets. They don’t care about day 1 dlc or season passes.

The bigger problem is that Ubisoft games will go on a 15% – 30% discount a few months after release. There’s very little reason to pick the game up when it comes out.

  33. Good work UBI, this just guarantees I’ll be obtaining this game via sea trade 🦜 🏴‍☠️

  34. zer0ducksgiv3n

Don’t buy Ubi or EA, problem solved

  35. kingseyi

This feels especially egregious, bc their marketing this mission before the game even came out. Like, I understand if you make DLC after the main game has been out for some time and is considered done.

But to market a mission as part of the main game just to put it behind a pay wall is everything I hate.

  36. Boogiepuss

The headline is misleading. However, its hard to care when they’ve spent years compartmentalizing games so they can announce dlc day 1 and sell you mtx that might be cosmetic or pointless, but pray on kids/ the unaware.

  37. S_T_R_Y_D_E_R

The only answer is to boycott, so that other companies will take note of it.

Otherwise if this become the norm, then rest in piece gaming community.

  38. Limonade6

Litterately using nostalgia for day 1 dlc. Disgusting. I won’t buy the game anymore. Maybe when it’s on sale for 20$, but screw that dlc.
