mmmh… this made me think that in the time between 20 and 9 years ago we had 3 GTA games… instead the next GTA game is expected next year, practically 10 years after the previous one… gaming has changed
Yes one of my all time favorite games. Soundtrack, missions, characters, story, cities, cheats, MP everything was amazing. Masterpiece.
To me, this is the best in the series.
I know Vice City was also one of the bests, but I don’t know… San Andreas had so much to do, such an amazing diversified map, etc.

The sole objective of ours was to merely stay adjacent to the cursed locomotive, Carl Johnson!
For me, Vice City was always superior. SA had so much empty space and the whole “hood” vibe was not for me I guess.

That one has one of the biggest & most intricate maps at least of the 3D era games. It still has more locations to go to than GTA 5 map I also loved being able to recruit gang members & form an army & take them anywhere. The turf wars were also kinda fun.
Going through it again now for the first time in a decade. Love it. I always dress CJ like a freak and laugh my ass off during cutscenes. Then I get my wanted level way up and use the 100 foot bunny hop cheat code and make some daring BMX getaways.

Wow i remember having several days off due to being ‘sick’ from school complete bs. Such a great game. The sound track and vibe of the era are so darn cool.

The best GTA. The most nostalgic, the most atmospheric and gangsta game. Nothing ever came close.
You feel the early 90s and 2004 oozing from this game, it’s an odd combination, but a match made in heaven.
My personal favorite. The turf mechanic coupled with the idk what to call it, the homies? Just made for a really fun gameplay loop. Pull up on the block, honk, bunch of homies jump in the ride, go to enemy turf and shoot up the whole block, cover the other gangs tags with yours. This block is ours now. Oh shit we gotta go over here and defend our turf everybody back in the car! That shit was fun. Grove Street for life.
I’m still playing it these days. It has a lot of cool mods.
I wish there was a proper remastered version. I tried playing it on my ps2 a few months ago and got annoyed quick. I do however agree in my book it’s the best GTA. I spent all summer morning till night on it back in 2005

I remember a fella in school was saving his pocket money like mad to save for the game, he even skipped out in the hottest social gathering a 14 year old could go to…the local teenage disco 🤣
First video game I ever played, loved every minute of it and it and I’ve been gaming ever since. Feels like if I don’t have video games to turn to every now and then life can get very unhappy 😅

I legit took vacation time to play this game for a week when it came out…. and it didn’t disappoint, one of the all time greats!
You can play multiplayer on pc there’s mods.
I miss when a simple game like this was enough. The world more alive than anything we’d seen.

Was playing at a friend house and accidentally input a new cheat code we didn’t know.

Mechanically it’s still the best GTA. Buildings you can enter, moddable character, straightforward car theft for profit, extensive street crime choices…
GTAV is a lot shiner but you can’t do a lot of things you think you could.

This is definitely one of the titles that all game developers wish they had made like Minecraft or Mario.
Being able to perform drive bys with your gang, and have a crew of 7 was the best part for 13 y/o me lol.
Nobody fucked with the Grove
Although gta 3 might be my favorite gta game on ps2 I’ve always liked how huge the map is in San andreas.
