So how strong is Johnny actually compared to current Cyberpunk eras character? (V, Adam Smasher, David, etc). He got no cyberwares or upgrades right?

Yeah, his silver arm is all natural

Depends on the contest. He is a rockerboy, V, Smasher and David would be classed as solos, and would easily kick his ass in a straight fight. Sure he can shoot a gun but his strength is his Charisma. The flashback we see in the game are not accurate to events.

In the TTRPG he was quite packed with chrome, he was a pretty strong character. Not that strong ofc, nothing like TTRPG Smasher

Johnny was fairly chromed. He was ex-military and was also suffering from cyber psychosis but was still functional.

Per the pen and paper books, he was literally a class that would be best described as a bard. He was great support but could not take hits, nor was he a massive damage dealer. Jack of all trades master of none and as others have said the memories of him soloing the tower were either tampered with by Arasaka or his own madness being stuck as an engram for years.

  5. You’re trying to compare someone who’s effectively a bard in D&D with Fighters and Barbarians. In a one on one, Johnny’s getting his ass handed to him on a silver platter (haha).

He’s just a rockerboy. Great pistol, but pretty underpowered.

His strengths were in agitprop, a vast web of connections, and marshaling support.

Don’t get me wrong, you have to win hearts and minds. But in terms of power as you are using it, he’s obviously one of the weakest main characters you encounter

what the fuck do you mean he has no cyberware

you can easily look up his stats and cyberware from the rpg, you know.

He’s got 2 cybereyes with LL/IR/UV, a cyberarm with a microphone built in, that he uses to be able to fire his modified Malorian without breaking his arm, and he has a sandevistan.

Technically pretty light on the chrome when you consider the average kit of a solo, but for a rockerboy, it’s more than a little, he definitely doesn’t have ‘no cyberware’

  9. He does have cyberware but it’s nothing special, especially since it’s over 50 years old

  10. He’s got cyberware but in terms of strength? Well, who killed Adam Smasher, eh?

In 2013, converted to 2077 stat scales, he has…

    Int 14
    Reflex 16
    Cool 16
    Body 14

1 cyberarm with integrated audio recorder, sandevistan, and 2 cybereyes with low light/infrared vision.

Skills don’t copy neatly to 77, so I’ll just list them off, maybe make them equal to perks taken or something:

10/10 charismatic impact (make people your fans, make your fans do shit for you), Handgun 6/10, Rifle 4/10, and a smattering of social skills (guitar 9, perform 7, notice 6, seduction 8).

He’s got a heavy armor vest, a decent Arasaka AR, and a stupidly heavy pistol.

I REALLY like the ending where Johnny gives Vs body back after breaking into Mikoshi – but he should 100% have a line like ‘holy shit I can’t believe how awesome your chrome is’ or something. He takes credit for killing Adam Smasher even though he had access to Vs body. The convos between V and Johnny in cyberspace should include a compliment.

While we don’t know the full lists of his cyberwares, he certainly have them. The arm for starters. He also has relatively high health and capable of taking down dozens of Arasaka operatives.

He also has a military background, making him a very capable combatant overall.

Compared to the modern era characters… Well, obviously zero chance against V. Against Smasher and Reed, close to no chance.

I think he can take on Rogue, River, Jackie. The closest matchup would be Kurt Hansen, which I think will end for the latter’s favor.

chrome-wise he’s slightly above the average person. he had a normal Sandy, optics with Low Lite and IR, and he had Boosted Reflexes, and of course his guns were pretty decent. the Arasaka WCAA was a good auto shotty for it’s time and the MA 3516 is still a solid pistol to this day(this day being 2077)

Smasher and David are WELL above where he was and V’s affinity for Chrome is superhuman even further above them.

  15. Maelstrom-Brick

Johnny is pretty badass with his *Malorian* still

  16. Not that much in og but still strong ofc,

Super saiyan level soldier skills in game, which im also ok too.

Both fits to him because in the end his main power is Charisma and he has it in both.

  17. real_human_20

He got canonically neg’d by Smasher.

  18. Memer_boiiiii

He has many kinds of cyberware. According to the wiki. He had Chromed cyberarm with a recorder; Sandevistan boost; two cyberoptics with IR, Low Lite and Enhancement, Boosted Reflexes

Johnny’s power lies not in his combat skills but in his legendary charisma. As a rockerboy he is effectively the cyberpunk equivalent of a bard and is able to convince people to do almost anything, which in itself is quite the power.

Johnny was never that strong to begin with. Sure, he can shoot, but he’s a rockerboy, not a solo.
