When the game released in 2020 I’m pretty sure nobody thought it would win any awards three years later. For a publicly traded company to make the investment not to just fix but overhaul any game after release is unfortunately few and far between. We should never forget the state the game released in, especially for consoles, but CDPR deserves recognition for staying with the game.

I heard about the atrocious launch when it came out but at that time i didn’t have a PC capable of running it so i never thought of buying the game in the first place.
A few months back the game was for sale and i had heared a lot of good things so i was like ‘eh fuck it why not’ couldn’t play for months due to just general lack of motivation to do anything and then when i was out of that slump i had exams so couldn’t play.
After all my exams i played for 25h in the first week and am now on my second playthrough after 70h. The game is easily my favourite game of all time and even though i just started my second playthrough i still am as hyped to play as i was the first time.
If this game doesn’t have the comeback of a lifetime then idk what has (ok tbf no mans sky might be a close contender)

The reason CDPR fixed Cyberpunk, is it’s just too much to just leave to rot. There’s too much good story, assets, characters, writing, mechanics and it was all great on release, but broken. It wasn’t as awful as everyone made you think on-release – as long as you weren’t playing on a console, but on PC.
There were gamebreaking bugs – sure, but are you saying Skyrim didn’t win GOTY despite being broken in 2024 after still recieving updates only to try to monetize mods?
Maybe CDPR shouldn’t have released it on cosnoles, but people are also entitled asshole hypocrites, sometimes.
