By their very nature, horror games or games with horror elements aren’t always everyone’s cup of tea – some people just don’t want that sort of constant tension when they’re playing their games – but for the many who do enjoy them, there’s nothing quite like a focused, intense sequence of the kind of scares that can make you jump right out of your skin.
Thankfully, there’s been no shortage of such games in recent years. From smaller, lesser-known indie darlings to big, blockbuster AAA behemoths, here, we are going to take a look at a few games from recent years that managed to make us scream out in terror with specific moments or scenes that still stand out in our memories.

The regenerator from deadspace and the sevastopol drone from alien: isolation both died due to extreme heat.
The regenerator was killed using a rocket engine and the xenomorph burned up inside the atmosphere of a nearby planet while trapped in a detachable part of the space station.
No Arkham Knight New Game+ intro or the Morgue hallucination from Asylum? God I miss Kevin Conroy so much. He was perfect in Arkham games. I got a voice acting background and have to say that his voice has been such an inspiration for me since the Batman the Animated Series. The vocal training was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but actors like him are a great impulse to not give up – I was almost a face for Leon in those new RE games 🙂
