I love how they save packaging by smacking a sticker on your high end equipment, but use a 2 x 2 foot square box with 60 feet of packing paper for a 1 ft USB cable.

My brother got a 3090 during the peak GPU shortage and keeps the doorbell camera clip of the FedEx guy.
He eyed it, shook his head, and was just reaching back to throw it over the bushes onto the porch when he spotted the light on the camera.
Like, dude knew what it was, knew how expensive it was, knew how hard they were to find, and his first response was to destroy it.

Still don’t understand why in USA they leave parcels at a porch. I mean, there probably is a logic behind that, but still feels unsafe as hell. In my corner of the world it’s either drop drawer (so many around the city) or direct hand-to-hand giving by the delivery person. We get an SMS and an e-mail the day parcel arrives with estimated times when to expect it. Some time before the delivery, a delivery person calls to clear up weather you’re at home, or where and when to deliver stuff. Then after you meet the guy, you either have to dictate a code they sent you via an SMS in the morning, or show an ID (or do nothing, depends on delivery service) and you get your parcel. Even Amazon – they simply send stuff via some local service and they drop the thing (if it’s not huge) into a closest to your address delivery drop drawer. Or if you get stuff from PRC, post office handles it quite often and they put a slip into your post box: you bring it to your post office and take a parcel.

I can’t believe that in country like the USA the only solution that you have found to deliver packages is leave then in the floor next the door. And that your packages aren’t properly packaged.

I know not everyone has this opportunity but it’s worth checking to see if your workplace will accept personal deliveries. We have an area in our shipping/receiving department where they put employee packages.

I still don’t understand why America is using that system. In the Netherlands, It is 1. Going in a brown box and 2 usually, parcels go to the Neighbours or are going to get send back to the depot if you are not home and require a signature to confirm that it arrived with an expansive parcel like that.

I’ve talked about this in the past, but the idea that they default items like this to not have a box is absolutely asinine.
These items are incredibly likely to be stolen, and it’s generally more green to just send them in another box, than it is to send replacements due to theft. A few thefts easily outweigh the extra boxes. Boxes can be recycled, spent gas and electricity can’t.
I have absolutely no problems with other items either, even roughly the same size, in a package already. But for some reason certain PC parts default to no box.
I’m sure there’s a setting you can change now, but it’s still frustrating that they even thought this was a good idea.

I bought a Lenovo Legion laptop in 2021 from Lenovo and it just had an address sticker on the branded Legion box. It was left on my porch all day..
I just got a desktop and had to sign for that, so I guess they learned that was a better way to ship that stuff….

You wait for the delivery man to come,he comes at your porch,he gives the product you ordered out of the van and goes on. 0 potential risk of stealing.

Bruh I had a 32 inch 4k Samsung monitor shipped to me and they just left the box out all day while I was at work 💀💀💀 somehow was still there when I got home
