gonna upgrade from my 4.7ghz oc 2600k to this 7700k, decent upgrade & i definitely plan on overclocking especially since it’s coming with a AIO water cooler, anyone got any advice on overclocking this chip? i’ve seen a few posts on delids but i don’t think that’ll be necessary lol
specs: intel i7 7700k, asrock z170 Pro4, Corsair H100i cooler, (gonna use corsair tm30 thermal paste since i’ve already got it on hand)

i’m gonna end up buying some new ram for it too, this board supports 3600 mhz so if you guys have any recommendations let me know
I haven’t been able to get my 7700k higher then 4.8ghz with an AIO
1. Yes, a delid is necessary if you’re going anywhere with a 7700k
2. As far as it goes, it’s cheap and this is the overclocking reddit.
The only limit is thermals. And without a delid and LM, that’ll happen fast.
Might as well delid, throw a bunch of voltage at it and go right for 5.1GHz. No point being gentle with a chip that is slower than an i3-12100.
