After playing through the dlc twice, I still don’t understand why reed is so Loyal to the FIA? They never did anything for him, threw him under the bus, and myers is a huge turd mountain?

Reed is difficult for most people to understand because we live in a very plastic world. I’m not even being emo…. I’m serious. Think about it… can you name anything people REALLY REALLY believe in? Even religion is half-in/half-out. Reed is a patriot through and through and he believes in the stars and bars in a way that most people, American or not, couldn’t fathom. He ascribes to a perceived “greater good” that keeps the vast majority of people safe… even at his own detriment. He isn’t in it for himself or to get something out of it… he’s in it for the NUSA.

Because he’s been conditioned to. Reed blames himself for what happened seven years ago, and stays in Dogtown as a kind of self-imposed penance — although nobody is holding him accountable, and nobody would blame him if he walked away. When V arrives, he leaps at the opportunity to get involved again because he thinks he has a chance to redeem himself, although it’s never going to happen. It’s most obvious >!if you agree to Songbird’s request in the Core; when driving her body to the NUSA pick-up point, Reed expresses anger and frustration that he wasn’t there to save her until V points out that Songbird wanted to die. Reed was projecting onto her the entire time — he thought that by saving her, he was saving himself, even though Songbird didn’t want want that.!<

That’s what patriot is being about. Its not serving the politicians, like Myers, but the country itself, the ideas and the constitution. Some people are not nihilists or self-obsessed egocentrics, but need higher goals in life. Reed found one in NUSA. I can respect that. And I always side with him because of that. Other choice is just throwing so many innocent lives under the bus and for what exactly?
