I built a pc for my friend about 3 years ago but he gave me the case he got cheap about 2 years before that.
Cheap as in like £15 shipped.
It was so bad that I reckon I could of punched it and bend the case with no real force.
The old case which was a cheapish one I remember having metal so thick nothing bent when connecting/disconnecting drives.

My Coolermaster CM Stacker from 2003 is brushed steel and weighs as much as a small car. Has held my gaming pc for the last 21 years.

My $80 dollar budget case survived a 4 foot drop(me being stupid) my beautiful coolermaster case, would not attempt to drop it from 8 inches. Not all cheap things are bad.

After having glass once, next time I will look specifically to not have glass

my cat accidently knocked over his cat tower and it landed directly on my Aurora R4 case. Didnt even leave a mark, had to retighten the cat tree.

I am still surprised glass is a common thing on PC cases. I guess I am just one of those silly poor’s who bought a cheaper case that came with a plastic window lmao.
Mine’s the former and it says: “I dare you to try lifting me up by yourself”

Haha this is so accurate. I still use a really cheap metal case from ~2014. Probably didn’t cost more than 20e. Moved flats with it several times, no issues whatsoever.

Using a $150 case from 2012.
It’s a tank, probably weighs 50lbs with everything inside. The panels feel like they could stop a low caliber bullet.
It’s not exactly pretty, but I’m pretty sure I could throw a baseball at it and nothing would happen.

My FD Focus G has plexiglass. I don’t care anymore nowadays but I just can’t be bothered buying a new case. It’s ugly now but hey it won’t break.
The power LED is dead. One of the front fans’ LED things is dying. The front USB ports can be finnicky at times. And the power and reset buttons are basically 1 plastic piece cut in 2, which makes it stupidly easy to press both at the same time. The kicker: my Gigabyte board interprets that as a ‘clear CMOS’ command. It’s horrible.
But I still can’t be arsed buying a new one, because I like to have my dinosaur tech (ODD) in there, and it not looking boring like everything does.

I remember building a sleeper pc for a friend using an old pc jr case. The case is solid metal and wont easily bend plus it’s heavy….
azionka
Friend of mine build a new PC with a very thick and heavy case. The first thing of course was to come over to play games.
He stumbled and rammed his new PC against the corner of our house.
Our house has since then a dent at that corner and he just blew the dust from is case, not even a scratch.
Dropping that thing would have bit just broke my leg but the whole floor.

Good old Cooler Master Cosmos II. Had to use books under the desk to fit it. Built like a tank (22 kg / 49 lbs). Zero glass, heavy metal.
Your own fault if the thing you bought to protect your PC parts is made out of glass lol

Man, I had one of the early Lian-Li cases ~2002. Empty it weighed a ton lol. Cast aluminum front door & stainless steel box lol. It was glorious but my god I dreaded ever having to move it. It crushed the particleboard base of my old desk on day one of finishing the build lol

Seriously though, what it is with all the broken glass panels? People are dropping them or hitting them accidentally, right? Or is there actually something about marble floors that makes them spontaneously explode?

The old casings, that had a frontal door, would literally break your fingers and rip your nails our before you could open them.

It’s not the case nor the floor, it’s stupidity what breaks those tempered glasses
