Real PC builders use cases made out of wood and bearskins.

That’s why I have a solid side panel in my case *HAHAHAHA* (Fractal silent pop xl solid)

  3. TEENYcharmander

I love new case designs i just hate rgb

  4. mittenkrusty

I built a pc for my friend about 3 years ago but he gave me the case he got cheap about 2 years before that.

Cheap as in like £15 shipped.

It was so bad that I reckon I could of punched it and bend the case with no real force.

The old case which was a cheapish one I remember having metal so thick nothing bent when connecting/disconnecting drives.

News just in.. functional Optiplex found in Louisiana landfill from mid 1990’s

This applies to most things 🤷‍♂️

  7. Individual-Match-798

Old PC case will also drink a liter of your blood.

My Coolermaster CM Stacker from 2003 is brushed steel and weighs as much as a small car. Has held my gaming pc for the last 21 years.

  9. My $80 dollar budget case survived a 4 foot drop(me being stupid) my beautiful coolermaster case, would not attempt to drop it from 8 inches. Not all cheap things are bad.

After having glass once, next time I will look specifically to not have glass

my cat accidently knocked over his cat tower and it landed directly on my Aurora R4 case. Didnt even leave a mark, had to retighten the cat tree.

edit: this was just 4 days ago

I am still surprised glass is a common thing on PC cases. I guess I am just one of those silly poor’s who bought a cheaper case that came with a plastic window lmao.

  13. ESFlamingo

Haha this is so accurate. I still use a really cheap metal case from ~2014. Probably didn’t cost more than 20e. Moved flats with it several times, no issues whatsoever.

  14. auralbard

    Using a $150 case from 2012.

It’s a tank, probably weighs 50lbs with everything inside. The panels feel like they could stop a low caliber bullet.

It’s not exactly pretty, but I’m pretty sure I could throw a baseball at it and nothing would happen.

  15. My FD Focus G has plexiglass. I don’t care anymore nowadays but I just can’t be bothered buying a new case. It’s ugly now but hey it won’t break.

The power LED is dead. One of the front fans’ LED things is dying. The front USB ports can be finnicky at times. And the power and reset buttons are basically 1 plastic piece cut in 2, which makes it stupidly easy to press both at the same time. The kicker: my Gigabyte board interprets that as a ‘clear CMOS’ command. It’s horrible.

But I still can’t be arsed buying a new one, because I like to have my dinosaur tech (ODD) in there, and it not looking boring like everything does.

    fuck da glass case

i need a case that durable, easy to clean and cool

    not a strips club

  17. Hychus232

Currently sporting a HAF 922. Thing could probably be dropped from a building and still be straight

When i was a kid my dad kicked my pc when i was acting up (i deserved it)

He hit his toe so bad he limped for a few days, and i played morrowind just fine when he went to bed.

  19. vaynefox

I remember building a sleeper pc for a friend using an old pc jr case. The case is solid metal and wont easily bend plus it’s heavy….

  20. Friend of mine build a new PC with a very thick and heavy case. The first thing of course was to come over to play games.
He stumbled and rammed his new PC against the corner of our house.
Our house has since then a dent at that corner and he just blew the dust from is case, not even a scratch.
Dropping that thing would have bit just broke my leg but the whole floor.

  21. Unknownhhhhhh

My 40 year old computer (IBM5170) literally cracked the wood on my desk….

  22. Arcite9940

I have not 1 nor 2 but 3 PCs with side glass panel. And placed them all on tile floor. It’s been 7 years and none have broken.

It’s not the case nor the floor, it’s stupidity what breaks those tempered glasses

  23. RingingInTheRain

I swear old Macintosh machines were weapons.

  24. AlabamaPanda777

    Solid cases are still available.

Your own fault if the thing you bought to protect your PC parts is made out of glass lol

  25. QueenBansScifi_

There are cases without glass panels

  26. BRBULLET_

Lol ok but the old case has to look like quasi modo!!

  27. PunkersSlave

Man, I had one of the early Lian-Li cases ~2002. Empty it weighed a ton lol. Cast aluminum front door & stainless steel box lol. It was glorious but my god I dreaded ever having to move it. It crushed the particleboard base of my old desk on day one of finishing the build lol

  28. Shmimbadad

Seriously though, what it is with all the broken glass panels? People are dropping them or hitting them accidentally, right? Or is there actually something about marble floors that makes them spontaneously explode?

  29. The old casings, that had a frontal door, would literally break your fingers and rip your nails our before you could open them.

  30. Repulsive-Brother691

My old fractal case has two fractures in them, two…

  31. theRealNilz02

I ordered my Fractal North with the mesh side panel on purpose.

  32. Me with my cooler master praetorian 730, with thick cnc machines aluminium parts.

  33. Wait why? Mine is on marble floor (has been for 2 years now) without any problems. Should I move it?

  34. Educational_Duck3393

I sure do love my 11 year old Antec case. I have absolutely no plans to retire that beast.
