I don’t intend to buy from AMD. I think they’re great, but I like Nvidia’s video encoding too much to leave them. I also feel like Nvidia is ahead more when it comes to features, I feel like a sucker for preferring them, because Radeon is so good for the price, I’m in the market for a new GPU, and see what happens when the next generation comes out, if NVidia keeps up their shenanigans, and AMDs video encoding improves to be close to Nvenc, then I’ll probably change my mind.

The AMD driver issue is true. Running my 6800xt whit almost 2 years old version becorse the new ones destroy the performance for few games like r6s from 165 to 80 FPS lmao

Quite literally the only reason I’m on an NVIDIA card is because of rendering. Otherwise I’d go AMD and I’ve still been very tempted to try them out. I’ve kind of been wanting to just get a GPU to get it out of my system and see how well it performs and then gift it to my older brother who will likely be due for an upgrade in the coming years anyways

So far still I haven’t had a single AMD (or even ATI back in the day) product that I didn’t need to address some issue with.
But I do prefer them because I’m pc savvy enough to deal with it easily. It still ends up being worth the savings.
But if someone who knows nothing wants to get into pc gaming? The reliability difference is still there enough I’m recommending an Intel/nvidia build.

Your cumstained swap meet blankets won’t break the glass, but your floor could. There’s carpet. Or rugs. Or a couch. But holy shit, don’t put it on a hard surface.

I used an AMD card in my new PC I bought in April 2022, a PowerColor Red Devil 6700XT that I paid 700 EUR for.
It had driver problems for the better part of 2022, and I returned it to the store in July 2023 because it was reaching hotspot temps of 100°C and a temperature delta of almost 30°C. PowerColor refunded me because they couldn’t fix it and the store allowed me to use the entire refund for a new card. I got a Gigabyte 4070 Gaming OC because 1. it was closest to price without going over; 2. The 7800XT, 7700XT and 7900GRE weren’t out yet and the 7900XT was hundreds of EUR more expensive; 3. I didn’t trust AMD yet after that mess. It’s possible the 6700XT was just straight up defective and I was unlucky, but I didn’t want to take the risk.

number 3 is quite the opposite, most people in forums now joining “hating nvidia is cool nowadays” bandwagon because of vram rage back then. for me, as for value, for me they’re both equal. amd is cheaper, nvidia is more expensive because better feature set, so that’s even.

Got nothing against AMD. But.. It’s just funny to see the 2nd Trend when everything new AMD makes always comes with an annoyance. Remember the new AM5? How is it constantly needed to train ram? Apparently it was some bug, or when AMD’s bad drivers kick in making my shaders this bright af green? literally happened a few days ago. I ended up selling my 7800XT with my supposed dual GPU setup that I wanted to have, imma wait until they fix their driver issues first..

I’m the 3rd. AMD has only been flaky. I had games that would BSOD the computer until a new BIOS update was installed. Memory compatibility was spotty. I’d only recommend AMD if you love to tinker and try to squeeze every bit of performance out of it.
