For me I’m curious what there thought process was when retooling Hands for Phantom liberty. He was first introduced as a smooth talking car salesman type who didn’t really care for any other goals outside of making money. Now he’s a gentleman chess player type who sees Pacifica as his playing board similar to Wacako.

I think he’s really awesome now. He has enormous depth. I believe in one of the subreddits (maybe even this one) there was a “Whose the best fixer?” And Mr. Hands won… I think Captain and Regina were also up near the top.
He’s definitely cooler in PL IMO
Hate it. I feel like the character they turned him into is one I’ve seen a hundred times before.
Did they explain how he survived the horse attack?
He’s cool but I really liked the design of the former one

I love the VA and the character design, but he doesn’t seem liked he’d be the fixer for for Pacifica and Dogtown. He seems like he’d be the fixer for Corpo Plaza or maybe for all of Night City like Rogue. The old VA had this great slimy used car salesman vibe to him, and that feels a lot more like the kind of person who would be the fixer for Pacifica and Dogtown.
New design is awsome. He reminds me of Sheogorath from TES.
He’s cool now, but his head is too big and he looks kinda like a muppet sometimes. Johnny’s head is too big now too.
My only thoughts about the guy is that he needs to change his name tbh.
I did enjoy the sleezbag car dealer energy the first mr hands gave off, although the PL one was definitely more interesting
I like both as their own separate characters as they’re so different in personality. I like to think the new one killed the old one and took over his business.
I don’t really see it as a retcon at all. Before the DLC, we all just ran one gig with him and had him hit up the VDBs as a favor. There wasn’t enough personality other than “extremely mysterious and careful by design”. It’s just that CDPR finally decided on what they want to do with him.
I think they made a mistake.
It would have been so awesome if Mr Hands would have been “Faraday” from the cyberpunk edge runners anime who “somehow” survived.
Instead of putting him in the “my fixer, my friend” position, he could have stayed under the radar until the end of phantom liberty and then afterwards a short mini campaign could have started where it turned out that Faraday was behind everything (instead of Hansen).
Would have been a really nice plot shift..
I’ve seen him reading *The Chessmen of Mars* by Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the few actual science fiction books referenced in the game.
Big fan. Major improvement.

Was it a retcon? Before phantom liberty came out, my game glitched out and the shadow flickered off a couple times while talking to hands, and I saw a face that looked something like this one. It seemed to me that they actually designed his character, than laid a shadow over it.
The only fixer I pick up the phone for.
I’ve heard people say he’s more accurate to the ttrpg lore now so I can appreciate it. At first I wasn’t a fan cuz I loved the vibe of the og but phantom liberty gives him so much depth it makes up for it. Still miss the OG a bit tho

I really like the new Hands, easily my favourite fixer in the game. But even though I get why they didn’t, I wish they’d have kept some of his “playfulness” from before PL. Still great tho.
i dreaded whenever i had to listen to his voice pre-2.0 i can’t lie. no disrespect to the actor but the new character is a lot more likable for me. i know people say he sounds monotone but i prefer calm and professional to SHOUTING INTO YOUR HOLOCALL

New Mr. Hands just has a cool personality, look, and the VA kills it
Old Mr. Hands was a breath of fresh air compared to other fixers. Every fixer has a very strict eat, sleep, breathe, and shit business attitude but Mr. Hands was very lax and chill. Shame we only got him for 1 gig and asking him for a favor for 1 mission.
I wasn’t a big fan of his old personality I like how put together he is now, and the fact he has a daughter is nice
