Thank you to this awesome community for making me finally get this done. It’s my own personal phase 1, but learning from this sub has taught me so much. I stained a Lowe’s 25” x 96” counter top, and built the shelf above it with rough cut lumber using a table saw, pocket joinery and a copious amount of wood glue to get the depth and length I wanted for displaying all my little worldly treasures.
This sub has been a great inspiration. I’m glad that the hundreds of battle stations I’ve seen here have shown me a way to have a functional space without hiding all my interests in a closet. I’ve always been of the mindset that the only way to have a clean space is to be super minimalist, and that’s no longer the case for me. I love displaying my collection of passions and it makes creating in my space so much more enjoyable. I am no longer paralyzed by a blank wall, a blank photoshop document, and empty shelf, or a closet overrun with “I’ll get to these one day” posters, figurines, and old consoles to display.
My gaming and WFH floating desk is now fully functional and “complete” for now, and it’s all thanks to this sub.
To everyone who contributes photos, ideas, and helpful feedback. Thanks! I hope my little slice of paradise is an inspiration to someone just like you all have been to me.

That looks impressive, good job on the build. I wouldn’t mind building a floating desk like this one of these days.
