I got into pc’s after the 4000 series was released. 👶

Well yeah that is how time works. 🙃

This post reminds me of the random stats and records that ESPN likes to put out.

Jerry Gymbag made history last night as he was the first vegetarian pitcher with an Aries astrology sign to throw 2 strikes in 4 minutes on a Sunday in a year that ends in 7 at a stadium that resides in a state that starts with the letter A.

Doesn’t really mean anything but it’s almost interesting.

  5. The 1080 is still the best looking founders card

The GTX 580 felt ancient by the time the GTX 1080 came out. Yet in my mind, the GTX 1080 feels relatively current still.
I don’t know if anyone noticed this. But 4 years have passed since the 2020 Pandemic, and it feels like it was just a couple of years ago. Feels like the whole world just pressed the pause button between 2020-2022 and we’re only now beginning to catch up again.

it’s now 3 generations apart only from current’s gen we need more updates

Its older, no? GTX 1080 released May/June 2016 and GTX 580 Nov 2010.

The GTX 580 is as old now as the 3dfx Voodoo was when the GTX 580 was released. 🙃

Mine’s still rocking though! What a card!

This is what they don’t want you to know. RT is a gimmick and cards haven’t really been advanced as much as marketing would have you belive.

I have my 1080ti powering my Debian dev PC. Soon to be fully retired and replaced by my 3090 when I buy the 5090 or 6090 next year.

    It still works wonders.

  13. Still playing with my 2 gtx 660 ti’s everything is ok life is ok

    I’m running a 1080 on a 4790k and it’s still cooking, even a lot of games in 1440p. DDR3 motherfuckers!

I passed my 1080 down to my son and he eventually passed it down to his girlfriend’s little sister so she can start pc gaming. It’s a workhorse, that card will be a family heirloom eventually.

im running my 1080 until she dies. Then she gets mounted onto the wall.

I had a GTX1080 when I built my system in 2017, beautiful card.

But the lack of DLSS aged that card horrible, I now run an RTX2070 which fares much better despite being similar performance in spec.

My old Founder’s 1080 Ti – given to me after I went to the launch event in Austin with Jensen – is still hard at work. Handles my wife’s games at 1440p pretty well still.

An elegant weapon from a more civilised age.

Mine is currently suffering through Satisfactory, mostly going strong

  21. L3GALC0N-V2

    And I still haven’t held anything past a 1070

Mine is the transcoder for my PLEX server now. 🙂

  23. masterofcreases

I built with a 1080 in 2016 and it’s still going strong. My 6600k is struggling though.

  24. SkyeMaxilian

I’m still rocking my 1080 Ti, love it to bits

  25. hotstickywaffle

Still love my 1080. I just got a new setup with a 4070 Super, so the old girl is taking light duty running my monitor at 4K60 while I code

As a proud owner of a gtx970 and a 1080, I can say both gpus are classic beasts that can still pull their own weight in today’s world.
