I have never in my life had windows just forcibly restart with no way for me to deny it.

That’s why Windows doesn’t just restart without your input

reminds me of when i was trying to start a game and it just automatically decided to update my computer

Dude. Just check for updates before important tasks and turn off your PC regularly. It’s not that hard.

  5. Somerandomdudereborn

That’s why I put the windows update schedule in hours I don’t even use the computer

  6. People are being gaslit into thinking this is normal and not a gradual change and removal of user agency by microsoft lmao

    cmd –> “`shutdown /s /t 1“`
That will do a forced shutdown with no asking for permission

    cmd –> “`shutdown /r /fw /t 1“`
That will do a forced reboot and directly enter BIOS/UEFI without hammering ESC, F10 or whatever.

yeah, it did this when i was downloading a 10gb file but the download server had extremely slow speeds, i had downloaded it for about 7 hours and had to restart cause windows decided to update halfway.

My laptop did it once. It bluescreened through the process though.

    Question for people here
I set my internet connection to metered and windows update settings to don’t download over metered connection
This used to work but no longer does , What changed ?

  11. I haven’t had that happen to me in a really long time. It just waits for me to manually restart the PC

I’m using Windows since 3.11. Now I’m on Windows 11.

I have never, ever experienced Windows restarting on its own.
