This is in reference to an earlier post, I'm staying up past my bedtime for you folks! ( I work nocs )
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/zj9scY9aja
where some commenter's helpfully recommended I try adjusting the tension of the monitor arms.
Others were sure I was an idiot (to be fair I can be) and had indeed adjusted it already-> the wrong direction, and should "read the manual"
Well… HERE
Identical arms, the one on the right, set for max weight, the one on the left set to minimum. I tried to prove this with an Allen key in the video but you'll kinda have to trust me.
These arms really are just too strong for the lightweight monitor. Vioteks website says the monitor in question weighs 5.8lbs. These loctek D7L arms are rated for 13.2-33lbs. As you'll see in the video, 7.5lbs isn't quite enough to hold it down ( 10lbs was tho )
As you will also see, they absolutely can handle 33lbs (shoutout to my random 33lb plate)

that mf can hold up me
Holy crap, is it expecting to hold up a crt tv or something?
Isn’t this crazy dangerous. That is a gas loaded strut, and. These aren’t usually designed for over 10kg. Be careful before it blown up and turn the adjustment back down.
I bought one of these and it had a cautionary picture of the arm coming up and chopping a dudes head off at the neck.
Imagine that shit?
What model is that?
No it’s just for old plasma TVs
Have you tried turning the screw the other way? Maybe the instructions were posted wrong? Otherwise, mount a 75 inch and call it a day.
I wish a single person in my life was as supportive as those mounts
Aren’t the adjustment screws typically accessed behind the monitor mount? That’s where mine is. I think OP is adjusting the tensions screw for the swing arm itself, not the hydraulics.
Made for a monitor with a built in amplified stereo system… now I want one and I’m afraid that it won’t exist
Bro gonna need a tetnus shot after holding those weights lmao
Keep one in the trunk for when you have to change a flat tire
Can you push the thing down then tighten it more?
Place monitor on floor, mount yourself to the monitor arm, use monitor arm to position yourself into the ideal viewing position.
Did you tighten that screw you showed? I feel like right now it’s not tight in so won’t hold in place
I don’t know, but maybe by some stretch the “13.2 to 33lbs” rating is actually requiring the monitor to be at least 13lbs for the arm to be adjustable
Those arms are rough and so temperamental and dangerous.
The first time I was adjusting the arm, I was standing above my monitor in question not even remembering that it was tension based. As soon as I got the screws loose, I was going to lift the monitor, but instead, the arm launched right to my eye.
The mount arm hit right above my eye just barely missing it and I gushed blood right away. My whole eyesocket was black and blue and swollen for a little bit.
With this video, I got super nervous for you with those weights on it. Please, please be careful.
The adjustment only works if the monitor arms pushed to 90 degrees. Push the monitor arm down to parallel with your desk then adjust.
Ltt mousepad
It seems to resent the LTT mousepad
Lmao, I have the exact same arm. It did wonders to hold up my Samsung CRG9 super ultrawide.
…but I don’t think they could handle 33lbs….
But can it CrossFit?
I have a similar one. The manual says when you adjust the tension like you are in the video, it says to hold the arm down so it is flat horizontally to avoid damaging the product and injury.
Have you tried that?
Those weights look like they haven’t seen any action in 20 years
My 30″ Dell UP3017 without cables or stand is 14.31lbs, so it would work for that. The older U3011 was 20.4lbs and the Apple Pro XDR is 16.49lbs.
To really push one a 38″ ultrawide like the Dell U3824DW is 29.26 lbs. so there definitely is a need for such a stand.
