I have a lot I could say about this subject, but I think the screenshot speaks for itself enough.

Must be one hell of a dark mode.

FYI, [Special K](https://www.special-k.info/) can do forced borderless too, plus it can actually reduce in-game stutter, has a dark mode and a ton of other features, all free of charge.

Just saying there are other options.

In the next version, they’ll make it a subscription service. You know … just to keep up with other industries.

9.99 to buy. 1.99 per month to keep.

Well, technically it’s like selling cosmetics in games.

  5. It’s the equivalent of Patreon for extra features that are not needed. Though 10 dollars is a lot but you don’t need it. It’s not like it’s a game.

I’m just saying don’t be witch hunting for what seems like a cosmetic add on you don’t need for the program to function. Sure it’s overpriced, just look for alternatives.

I mean, devs gotta eat too you know?

“… To support the ongoing development and fund the work required for these significant improvements, I’ve released dark mode as an optional DLC. This DLC is intended to replace the previous “Donation DLC” and provides a way for the community to directly contribute to Borderless Gaming’s continued development.”

From the patch notes announcement post. It’s basically a “donation DLC”. As far as I remember “donation” or “support me/the project” buttons are not allowed in software on steam so it’s a loophole to support the project with something to show for it.

You can only go so far with increasing prices and lowering quality. You gotta start monetizing everything

Is it wrong for Dev’s to ask for money?

If an optional, cosmetic DLC will help fund development I see no problem.

A small indie dev is not the same as EA or Epic, they dont have more money than god from milking wales.

    loli posts detected, opinion rejected

  11. Should setup a patreon. There are a few dev teams for free apps that I do my part to contribute $$ via patreon. Might be a better way to just come out and ask people for $$ to donate via a patreon?

Psychologically gatekeeping/paywall content is more annoying than “extra content” for patreon members at the various tiers.
