I can play, but I can’t work – why? Ignore the mess: my back hurts, my neck too – I want to work with my desktop but my body feels off. Instead, it’s much more comfortable to do that with my laptop. What am I doing wrong?

Two things I noticed right away are in my opinion the monitor height is too low, and arm rests should be level with the desk(unless they are when you sit in the chair)

Posture by too high (or too low?)chair setup and armrests and monitor and or screen scaling may be off or need new glasses or lighting not working for reading text so you lean forward or… Could be a million things tbh.

I have that exact same chair and I think it’s pretty good. I’d say the problem comes, as others said, from the armrest position and the monitor height. Put the armrest at the same level of the desk, and grab a box, a pile of paper or anything like that, try to put the monitor center at your eye level, see if that works. If you feel better, find a jank free solution to elevate the monitor. Monitor arms are great.

Try lowering your chair so the arm rests tuck under the desk, and you can scoot closer. That way, you can use the table to hold your arms, and that weight is off your back.

the height of your eyes should be in line with the height of the upper frame of the monitor, so you head looks slightly downwards

You can get a taller desk, monitor stand, & laptop arm to make everything adjustable and give more space to work
