Clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. Small pea size of thermal paste in the middle then slap the cooler on. No need to overthink it. Looks fine.

That’s the fun part about application of thermal paste. You don’t exactly know what the result of your application looks like until you take it apart. And then you have to re-apply and don’t know the result again.
