Best FPS to this day! The tech, graphics and attention to detail were 20 years ahead of their time and to this day no game comes even close to what this game had. I just wish if I can experience playing this masterpiece again for the first time like I did in 2004.

Crysis still holds up and the sequels even more but like yeah HF2 is something else

Good ol’ Half Life 2. The game that turned into a true gamer. Just re-played it, and is as good as ever.>!.. And I’ll never see the conclusion to the story 😭!<

  4. the sheer scale of the half life circlejerk

smh not using Alien Swarm branch and running it at 4K /s
Source Engine still can be modded to use CSM, SSAO and other cool stuff, so this Lost Coast screenshot can look much better.
Not gonna lie, this game aged very well.

They don’t make ’em like they used to.

i mean yea? it’s age definitely shows. As someone who loves half-life and played since the first one came out if you click this image it looks blurry and pixelated as hell. lol

Held up much better than the later murky bloomy brown “realistic shooter” trend

We have peaked awhile ago if you ask me, no one takes chances anymore and it shows with the catalog of games available to us.

The tesselation is crap but the lighting and reflections look pretty good.

It’s from HL2: Lost Coast tech demo, which was released in 2005 to demonstrate new pseudo-HDR tone mapping engine feature. So technically it’s 19 years old.

I replayed the entire series last month. Valve not ending this story is a war crime.

Looked so great for it’s time.
    Loved the whole Orange Box.
