
The difference is really insane. and makes me wonder wth NVDA was thinking when binning this specific card.

The real quick story is that a little under 1.5 years ago, I upgraded both mine and my brothers GPU to a Gigabyte Vision OC 3070.
For some reason, my GPUs stock setting was just stupid. (this is what it was at the time when i got it and benched it twice. https://imgur.com/a/huo5EZv)
Stock is 1905 (i believe. after my current undervolt session). and boosts to 1935mhz. the kicker? its stock Voltage is at 1.081v…
that caused GPU temp to hit 86c. and hotspot to hit 104c. In addition, GPU wattage of 267.5w and fan speeds of 2800 RPMs.
after messing around a bit, I believe it is stable at 1905mhz / 0.893v. which boosts to 1920mhz and 1935mhz with i think 0.9v and 0.912v. and total GPU power peak is only 183.7w.
it is ALOT quieter, and fans arent going to 2800 rpm. this is what i am at now https://imgur.com/a/TJX5BwP
This is just really crazy how this GPU was even binned at this in the first place. and i cant believe I didnt undervolt alot sooner.

I’ve done something similar.
Asus Dual OC 3070 – 1.06V Stock – max boost 1855Mhz, 1775Mhz most of the time
undervolted to 0.9V with a boost of 1920Mhz. Such a win. More performance and a lot less temperature.
Run some benchmark at stock voltage, and then try it undervolted. See if you get the same result at equivalent clocks.
I undervolted Asus Dual OC RTX 3070 to 0.868V@1905 MHz with +400 MHz on memory. It’s stable as a rock, power consumption dropped to below 190 W in benchmarks. Did dual noctua 120 mm mod and it’s quiet, power efficient and still decent card for 2K gaming. This card is perfect for deshroud because of flat radiator.
