Core i5-4570
8GB ram
GTX 1060
1TB HDD
MSI B85 board
And all that in a huge Aerocool case that is in relative good condition, apart from missing one of those red plastic covers at the top.

PC works completely fine. I might keep the case to build my own frankenstein NAS.

I found a corsair onyx series full tower at a goodwill once.

    Wow great find!!

I used to work at an apartment complex that college kids lived at in Illinois and found a few new graphics cards I was able to sell, a new perfect pair of converse in my size, and one day even found the dumpster FILLED with merch from GameStop completely unopened (posters, walkthroughs, promotional stuff). It really is crazy what people will just toss into the trash

    I miss working there lol

    Edit: a word

Nice. Try find a cheap 4770 non k and add an extra 8GB RAM, will still for make a semi decent 1080p gaming setup.

Picked up an old XPS laptop for $25 at Goodwill, ran Teamfortress 2 fine. This was like 13 years ago.

  8. That Aerocool line (Xpredator cases) had pretty solid gems in terms of cooling performance, I had one (don’t remember the name but it could fit a 230mm fan on the side or 4x140mm, that thing was huge.

I litterally had to give away my 1660 gpu PC. Asked 600 for a full setup including a gaming monitor could not find a buyer to save my life. Id imagine this person felt the same when they finally sent it to recycling center.

I have my own small consulting business and I often have clients drop off laptops for recycling which are still perfectly good. Think 8th gen i5 and i7.

I refurb them, replace the hdd with small (240 gig) SSD and donate them to local schools which have programs for young parents.

It’s just nuts what people throw away because it’s not cutting edge. I have equipped my home office with enterprise level smart switches and a couple of Dell rack servers. Data warehouses rotate their hardware every five years because they write stuff off.

Perfectly good premium hardware. Tens of thousands worth. Makes me lament the disposable society we live in.

If you get hold of a I7 4770K or other unlocked processor, after a bios update that B85 chipset motherboard will let you overclock it.

Lil brother runs a I7 4770k at 4 ghz in a B85 motherboard here also found at the recycling center together with a gtx 1070 which only had a dead hdmi port found there & 2×8 gb 1600 mhz ddr3

  12. I often drop by electronics recycling places to pick up parts for charity builds or even just stuff that’s still useful, like cases, fans, and sometimes heatsinks.
