There’s an awful ton of Overwatch 2 news posted here lately.
Can anyone explain what’s with the sudden influx? I’m genuinely curious what made people pick the game out of the blue.

They advertised it as part of the game before launch and then simply didn’t include it. No wonder “sales” were low. Promises weren’t delivered.

Dumb ass company fumbling in every single way they can. Abandoned the OG PvE project for OW2, sold the dogshit they scrapped together at the last minute, and no one bought it. The playlist for the missions was literally dead after the first week of release. Now they’re using that as the excuse to can PvE entirely instead of just buckling down and releasing the original experience they promised.
The OW2 team can’t do anything right but skins.

They announced a huge PVE campaign as the main selling point of Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 replaced Overwatch 1, it changed very little and brought a lot of downgrades, and it didn’t include the PVE campaign because they said they needed more time to work on it.
Announces the PVE campaign is cancelled, and was cancelled before the release of overwatch 2, therefore the game was a glorified patch.
Announces the few PVE missions they Did make would be events in the same style as “Archives”, but this time, they would not be free, and each one costs $20 and lasts less than an hour.
Just what did they think was gonna happen?

Am I going crazy?! Didn’t they announce months ago that PVE was canceled before OW2 even launched? And just a few days ago they rolled that back and said every 18 months we’ll get an event map like the Holiday maps in 1?

well no shit… what did they expect? they sold pve as the reason for ow2, and then come out years later saying they failed to deliver on a full experience. instead they just put out a couple missions, which were probably just cobbled together from the assets they already made.
so no wonder no one buys that shit lol.

The hate boner the internet has for this game is one I’ll never understand. The PvE bullshit is fucked up, and the whole shutting down of overwatch 1 in favor of a more scummy monetization model are all perfectly valid criticisms for the game, but the way this subreddit and steam reviews talk about it makes it seem like no one plays it and it hasn’t been given a decent update since 2017.
The multiplayer part of the game is alright. Not the best, not the worst, just fine. I prefer single player personally so I haven’t played in a while, but I seriously don’t get why people seem to think it’s dead or the devs don’t work on it anymore.

Not sure if anyone remembers but Overwatch was spawned out of assets of a failed MMORPG by Blizzard.
If they couldn’t make it work then they weren’t going to make it work now. Even at a smaller scale.

And much like Skull and Bones and Suicide Squad, there is likely a subreddit still acting like this is a great game. “I don’t care what the haters say, I had fun!” As if accepting failed attempts at mediocrity is some sort of admirable personality trait.
