Any contenders for worse?

Jedi: Fallen Order without a doubt!

  2. Noman800

I vaguely recall reading somewhere the difficultly in reading the map in Control was partially on purpose.

  3. SweetMonia

Yes, the map in that game was kinda useless

  4. I can see how it is obscuring lower floors there, but at least it is color-coded on elevation. There was one level in one of the Mass Effect games that had a single “floor” according to the map that was actually basically a 3-floor high maze. All the paths just run over each other on the map and there’s no elevation indicators at all.

The other areas of the game were fine. It was just this one place.

  5. I basically never used the map. The world is sign posted pretty well, so I found it pretty easy to get around.

The interior maps in the Fallout games are terrible.

  7. Ambilically-Yours

This map is atrocious AND it doesn’t already show up… but that blank black screen is barely worse

  8. Much_Understanding11

God of war 2018 and Ragnarok also

Jedi Fallen Order. No debate. I’ve never spent so much time looking at a map cursing my head off, rotating it every which way trying to figure out which way to go. Multiple levels, multiple ways of going up or down levels (elevators, slippery slopes, grippy walls to climb or descend, ropes to climb or swing from, air vents etc). And the worst part is that in some cases the way in which you got deeper into the level is not the same way you are able to return back to the start. Why tf they didn’t have a fast travel back to landing pad feature is beyond me.

I loves Control but the amount of times I took the wrong route because the map is very unclear which samey looking hallways connect where.

This and the fact that environment does everything to obscure the right path and make you going in circles. I really wanted to like this game but it was super tedious to play

  12. Doom 2016 springs to mind as well as Jedi Fallen Order, which combined with backtracking made collectibles so fun.

  13. DarthVaderBater

Lol LOVE the game but agree…. would run around & fast travel aimlessly, always confused how to get to certain areas

    *Starfield player’s head whips around*

    You guys have maps?

  15. Dog-Faced-Gamer

I absolutely loved Control but I 100% agree with you.

  16. Pyrite17

Doom 2016. It was nice cause the level design was good enough without having to open it, but you missed where you needed to go, the map was useless

  17. UnluckyHazards

Yep. Signs in the environment are better used to figure out where to go. Another reason Control is amazing.

I cannot comprehend the map in FF VIIR, It’s divided by floors but it doesn’t tell you which floor is higher or lower and it’s just annoying

  19. N7_Voidwalker

3D maps should be standard in every single open world game.

  20. Yun0Grinberryall

U are mainly supposed to navigate using signs, not the map

  21. Technical-Ad-5522

I adore this game! Love the idea of a normal human gaining powers (infamous).

Anyway i finished the story too quick… I have side missions to do but no enemies and now the game is boring.

Gotta start over I guess! Love it anyway

  22. Lost-Metal3901

Control is an excellent game with a very unexcellent map. I don’t know if it’s one of the worst, but I definitely didn’t like it.

  23. themagicbong

Mechwarrior 5 it felt like half the time the map was just a suggestion. Since the levels had a bit of randomization to em, the maps were generic and might show a circle where a base might spawn but it might not have spawned there this time. And if you played co-op, I’ve seen myself be very incorrectly displayed on the map, having my icon way off the map to the side.

  24. xarchangel85x

Wish it was a 3D map like Metroid Prime

  25. Cluelesswolfkin

~ question!!! I played this game and beat it but when I downloaded the gamepass version my save isn’t there 🙁 do I have to restart jt? Or is it because it’s the series x version?

  26. TentacleJesus

Yeah, the map is tricky. You really just have to get yourself in the general area and then use the signs in the world to navigate properly.

  27. Gaara34251

Worst map pf gaming is probably the one from bioshock, which is one of my fav games but mao is fking trash

  28. imtheguest

Love this game. I do find it hard to find where I’m going. But it also kinda makes sense. I do love how it pulls up transparent while I can still move tho

  29. cryotrooper781

i literally quit playing the game midway through because of how confusing the map was

  30. matthewmspace

The map is one of the reasons I stopped playing the game. Anyone know if there are mods on PC that’ll make it usable?

  31. swagglepuf

I actually really like this map. You actually have to read signs in the game pointing to the location you found on the map.

  32. WitchKraft93

as you say on your third playthrough. its a game about paranormal liminal space. basically the backrooms with a story to it.

  33. wanderxcv

I remember Doom being pretty bad.

If I’m being facetious I’d also say Elden Ring. Does anyone use the map for anything other than just fast travel?

  34. briowatercooler

I’m only a few hours in and trying to figure out where to go has certainly been my biggest issue. The map is dogshit.
