Following a recent post! I a lot of people recommended my next book would be necromancer. However, a few said burning chrome to be first. I did some digging and found this would connect to nercomancers world through the BC short stories. However, I couldn’t find which ones link. Any help which shorts to read first!

I’ve read, and enjoyed, Autonomous, Burning Chrome, and DADoES. Can’t go wrong with any of those. But since I haven’t read it, I’ll suggest you start with Gun.

Burning Chrome all the way. It isn’t all cyberpunk, but all the stories are fuckin great. The ones that fit the genre are Johnny mnemonic, new rose hotel, the eponymous burning chrome (these three are set in Gibson’s sprawl setting, which is the framework for his first trilogy. Fragments of a hologram rose, dogfight, and the winter market are also cyberpunk, potentially but not explicitly part of the sprawl.

I’ve read these stories dozens of times and have extra copies that I give away to friends. Apart from the sprawl ones, Hinterlands is a particular favorite.

If/when you read them, remember how old they are and how prophetic a vision and keen an eye was needed to envision these things.

As he said, the future is already here, just not evenly distributed.

Blade Runner can be read so fast. There are chapters where you cant take your eyes from the book. I would start from that one. (In fact I did, i read Blade Runner and then went to the Sprawl trilogy)
