probably every modern mbt, and even bradleys autocannons could pierce it, the problem in game is you are just a dude with a gun, not a tank
darrickeng
You don’t need to punch its armor, you only need to take out the joints in the legs and immobilize it then you call in artillery to bomb it.
Hence why mechs (though looks cool) are stupid.
HarryMcFlange
Any current top down attack munition would basically do to it what V did. Javelin, NLAW and TOW off the top of my head.
Dystrox
We dont know what the chimera is made of, is probably some sci fy alloy, but realistically speaking, if we consider is made as modern tanks are, pretty much anything could hurt it, it doesnt seem to have reactive armor which is critical for defense againts other tanks, it would be extremely slow because it has to carry heavy batteries and/or a lot of fuel, easy target for any artillery rounds, is a walker so
Mary_Ellen_Katz
I think this tanks biggest selling point (aside from being a clear homage to one of the finest cyberpunk animes of all time) is that it has legs. It has lasers, armor, anti personnel smart missiles, and the ability to traverse rocky terrain…
… in a world with AV’s.
Yeah, okay, it’s just cool, that’s fine.
Zequax
tank, anti tank rounds
Enzopastrana2003
If we’re talking about a single soldier, an RPG or ATGM could do the work, other than that a 25mm or a 30mm autocannon with APFSDS ammo could do short work of it if aiming at the joints of the legs and a single 105mm or 120mm should be enough

I would certainly be interested to see how it takes a A-10 Warthog’s *BRRRRRRRRRRRRT*
Or a tungsten core shell, from America/Russias current main battle tanks
But one thing is for certain it would definitely die if a seafaring warship got a lock on it. Big Fucking Bullets always win. And since dropping what looks like a lump of metal half its size on its head cracked its armor open, allowing you to kill it with conventional arms I imagine a few of those gigantic warship rounds would punch its ticket out of existence. Those things are designed to sink other warships and destroy buildings/ entire compounds.
It’s the classic tale of the arms versus armor race. No matter how grand of strides armor makes in its improvement all arms have to do is hit it harder. And we already hit hard enough to level entire cities and fortified underground compounds, with a single strike. I’m sure it would fuck up a lot of equipment before it got destroyed, but I think our current arms could take this thing down.

Without knowing what it’s armor is made of, that’d be a tough call.
Assuming it’s similar to Abrams armor, then you need multiple tungsten or uranium tipped rounds to do the trick unless you hit it in weak spots.

Any AT weapon would be able to punch through armor. It’s tough to prevent a copper efp (explosively forced projectile) from piercing just about anything, only the thickness of the armor might stop it, but that would require the armor to be crazy thick, preventing the chimera from being maneuverable, which it clearly is.
verzemnyn
A-10 warthog probably do a number.
BlackJackJeriKo
Definetly an RPG, the explosive devices they launch, explodes before it hits the target, and superheats copper and melts right through armor
KRONOS_NL
Tungsten or depleted uranium rounds would be my gauss
AngryAccountant31
Pretty sure an A10 Warthog could end this walker in a single pass with the GAU-8
yasssqueen20
I’m no warfare expert but I presume high calibre rounds from tank killer rifles , even if they’re just aimed at weak spots. .50 cal or even an autocannon could probably do some damage?
Failing that just stick some thermite on the top hatch and problem solved
SgtEpsilon
20mm AP would do the trick, .50 BMG at the joints too
Hottage
Any shaped charge top-attack or SABOT round will probably do the trick.
NeptuneShemptune
I mean. Not modern but I’m sure the Gustav Cannon could make a scratch at least
Drogg339
TOW

Yes. Its not about any real world comparison though, its about the specified usecase. A chimera is not designed to be deployed in the field, running around in forests, etc. where it would be an easy target. Its specifically made to be used in highly populated cities of the future. Its a terror weapon that outclasses tanks which would have a hard time against it in any cyberpunk city. It is made to break through buildings and easily navigate the multitude of levels of a megacity. Something a tank could never do. The reaction times are insanely fast on top.
Don’t forget, this is not about to play fair, its militechs terror weapon. Hence why its not mass produced. Its a walking human rights infringement as it can’t be used without killing civilians.
blickbeared
You could probably use 20mm HE at the joints and that would be enough to for a mobility kill.
Porthos1984
105mm HE round from an M1A2 Abrams. 155mm from a modern howitzer. A 30mm from a Vulcan cannon. AT 4 or a Javelin. Small arms not so much.
Hispanic_Alucard
I don’t think it’s accurate to try and hypothesize as who knows what sci-fi advancements they’ve made to armored assets; but then, what advancements to ammo?
That being said: SABOT is king.

I mean a 120mm definitely can
First_Community_2534
Any AMR designed to pierce engine blocks. If it is heavier, the floor would collapse.
BEHEMOTHpp
Shoulder mounted Anti-Armour can only dent the armor. Same with Anti-armor guided artillery, and small-diameter bomb and AGM (like hellfire and maverick)
Heavier munitions however will guarantee a one-hit kill. Even a low-yield JDAM like GBU-54, 38, or 12 will kill it in the same fashion as V did if dropped from above 1000 ft
Kialan3-14
Nuclear missile for sure
No-Weight5760
You’d probably start to have to get into Heat/AP tank rounds depending on armor thickness
Fakula1987
I guess a Bigger HEAT round would pen that.
Even If that would be NERA Armor, the developement of High explosive wouldnt Stop either.
(Funny Thing, there Arnt shoulder launched weapons in the Game)
