For me I have been a fan of the Bioshock series. Bioshock Infinite’s Columbia is really beautiful and thoughtful concept of a city floating in the sky.

Bioshock 1 and 2 City of Rapture was an awesome concept of a city.

Gotham City from Batman Arkham Knight

Kamurocho from the Yakuza series, easily. It’s more of a small neighborhood of a city, but it’s easily the most jam packed with stuff to do and find.

Whilst I agree with your choice, I’ll throw in a shout out to:
Tokyo from Ghostwire. Just exploring was motive enough to play. I liked the rest of it too, mind.

Getting into stormwind for the first time as a child with the epic music that pops in as soon as you see the big statues will never be surpassed
Happy_Bad_Lucky
Vice City absolutely blew my mind.
It’s pretty old now and there have been incredible progress on open world games, with detailed enviroments and inhabitants that make for a great immersive experience.
But that was my first encounter with a GTA game, coming from PS1, and I can’t get over how crazy was that for me at the time.

For me those are my top 3 in no particular order:
– Tarant from Arcanum;
– Sigil from Planescape;
– Baldur’s Gate you know from where.
As for games other than cRPGs:
– Oxenfurt from Witcher 3;
– Paris from AC: Unity;
– Wyzima from first Witcher.

I’ve always loved Anvil from elder scrolls Oblivion no particular reason but that’s always been the place I’d move if it were real

I agree. I’m replaying Cyberpunk 2077 and I was just thinking about this the other day. Night City is incredible. CDPR managed to create a fictional city set in the future and make it feel more real and lived in than any other city in an open world game.
Chicago and San Francisco from Watch Dogs 1 and 2 are close, and better than what Rockstar did with any of their GTA games, so props to Ubisoft. But they’re just not on the same level as Night City.
