Sea of Thieves is great if you have a friend or friends to play with but it’s not good for solo play.

Sea Of Thieves is actually a really great game.

Pre-orders? They never learn. I can’t wait to see the reviews where they find the game is riddled with bugs and cheaters. 🤣

Nice

Phil Spencer was right.
A six year old game is beating Rebirth, Dragons Dogma 2, etc.

I think this shows less about SoT and more about how awful SaB is. Created the urge for an experience being a pirate and then failed to deliver it, so people sought out other pirate games.

If only the game had some actual progression.

I remember disliking it when it came out because playing solo was such a pain in the butt. I’ve heard they made changes to solo sailing so maybe I’ll give it another try.

Is there anything to god damn do in this game yet? I ask because I’ve tried on 3 occasions in the past to play it and it was the same every time. Boring combat with shit weapons for crap loot on a boring island with boring enemies. To grind rep for no reason so I can go be bored on another island. But at least I get to look at nice water on the way.
That’s the gameplay loop. Nice water, bored. Water, bored. Nice water, bored. Water. And this goes on and on, back and forth for 80 or so hours until the game just sort of ends.

I remember all the PS fans saying they didn’t want this game or didn’t care….lol

I’ve had such mixed feelings about SoT.
Played on launch and loved how minimalist and immersive the user experience was without too many menus and HUD icons getting in the way. Combat was relatively simple, but everything was new so it hadn’t gotten stale yet. Other players in the world were also brand new, so friendly exchanges were common and PvP was pretty clumsy but charming.
But I started getting tired of repeating the same missions over and over and took a break.
Then somewhere in the middle they overhauled the menu controls to make room for all the new cannonballs, throwing bombs, fish, fishing baits, storage boxes that used both interact buttons depending on whether you were picking them up or stowing an item into them, and just generally so much more stuff that fills up your inventory. The process of interacting with items in the world became cumbersome and really destroyed my ability to feel immersed. At the same time, more dedicated players were starting to get really, really good at PvP and making life miserable for anyone who wanted to avoid confrontation. While I’m fumbling trying to load all these new cannonball types, enemies are layering half a dozen curses, towing me in with new grappling hooks, and smashing all the new destructible points on the ship.
They’ve undeniably added a lot of stuff to the game, but in doing so it just feels so much worse to actually play. Running around day 1 felt natural, and now its sifting through pages of radials, nested menus of all the various story questlines, and cluttered inventories getting in the way of just being a pirate.

when everyone realizes they still want a pirate game without bullshit, just well made sailing, they’ll flock to you know what. Sea of Thieves is too silly to fill the pirate void.

I wish they didn’t fuck up this game so much

So it’s for preorder but it’s not on the ps store?

It’s important to preorder a game that is distributed digitally…Â

Wait until they play it

A very boring game
