Ever since this game started, there were rumors that if you were a jerk to Johnny during the 4 Tapeworm interludes, Johnny would become sick of you and lock you out of Chippin’ In, along with all his Act 3 content with Rogue and Kerry.

I wanted to see if this was true, so while playing on my save where I also tried to [fail every gig](https://youtu.be/9AyLalhs9xA), I immediately cut johnny off as soon as possible during Tapeworm and was otherwise quite hostile to him as much as I could. Regardless, at the end of the final Tapeworm, I woke up in the Pistis Sophia Hotel. I accused Johnny of trying to steal my body, he brushed it off. He asked if I would take a bullet for him, I said no. He asked if he could take over my body to talk to Rogue, I said no. Regardless, he said “well if you change your mind…” and Chippin’ In appeared.

I have all of this footage recorded, because I wanted to make a video showing what happens, but it appears that it is no longer possible (if it were ever really possible) to lock yourself out of starting his Act-3 side-quest. Immediately after unlocking the Point of No Return, I did rush to it and was greeted with [this lovely elevator scene](https://youtu.be/Mzlw-yBpTNM) and an incredibly sad rooftop scene where you have no choice but to take Hanako’s offer.

Does anyone have any footage of actually locking yourself out of Chippin’ In or was it just an urban legend?

I’m not sure if it was ever possible to lock yourself out of Chippin’ In. Memory is hazy because it was my first playthrough, but I took the omega blockers every time. I still was able to do that mission.

I wanna say if you tell Johnny to blow himself in the oil field scene, he might skip past the Rogue “date” and go directly to Kerry’s quests. I’ve never not gotten Chippin’ In though.

Never heard about the lock out. But you can definitely fail it, that is for sure.

Rogue: *”You’re a coward, Johnny. Off the grid again, whatever. Don’t bother coming up with any excuses.”*

Funny that the message is aimed at Johnny, but it is V’s decision to bail out.

The lockout was possible without failing anything or pissing Johnny off.. ..my DLC save was bricked, haven’t checked on the most recent save yet though.
