I remember my potato was not able to run it even 640×480 with no shadows and vegetation

I like first Crysis game, great story, that game really push limits of hardware even today

Super underrated, too. Everyone thinks of it as a tech demo and a graphics showpiece, but it was a great game. The expansion was even better.

  4. Quite literally, being a game from 2007 that required hardware from 2012 to run

Too ahead of its time there still aren’t games like this today

  6. It looks dated now but this was mindblowingly amazing back then.

  7. Farkerisme

It just required a computer from ahead of its time to run

I see a lot of comments hyping up the first game but I really liked the story and atmosphere of the second game too

Crysis 2’s multiplayer was amazing. Spent so much time playing it.

Bring back PC exclusive games that push technical limits. I’d love to see what modern hardware and the flexibility of keyboard and mouse input could do in 2024 without the limitations planning for a console release involves.

You should have included a screenshot from the icy areas; that part was way more impressive. Back in the day, my mind almost exploded when I got to that section

P.S. I initially play this game on my ATI XRadeon 1950 Pro Power Color – that gcard was a beast.

Ah yes the old “but can it run crysis?” Was everywhere back in that era.. and at the time my pc played it at like 800×600 res with a mix of low and medium settings and it still ran like hot garbage.

Great game though. Better than the “tech demo” status it held back then. The twist was kinda meh though.

I like it so much. I completed this game 4-5 times.

As in blatantly unoptimized PC games are a common thing *now* an Crisis was ahead of its time in this regard? 🤣

We know. Because we are regularly reminded by Reddit.

I loved damn near everything about crysis. Great gameplay, graphics, and story…multi-player was meh tho.

You could have a great rendering with not so much polygons. No need to have ultra detailed meshes

What’s crysis about? For a time I literally thought it was just a gpu stress bench 😭

Seriously, somehow whatever followed in FPS games were like neanderthal, compared to this. You look at the Assasin’s Creed series, or pick a popular one series that started this era, they can’t even hold a candle to it.Not just graphics, but even the A.I. and the gameplay. Meanwhile the rest of the games popping out 5-10 years later were (are) worse in every way imaginable and acted like nothing happened when the game came out.

BG3 will get (already getting) the same treatment. Other game studios will just ignore it happened, because “it would be too much money” or somehow they figure it’s not profitable to do the best technologically possible game. Lots of things like this, even outside gaming. We just don’t do what we can with the available tools and tech level, beause of profit and greed.

Indeed, the graphics card was always taking a beat whenever I played this game. Whatever happened to Crytek man, I miss them so much. I heard that they announced Crysis 4 as well but it hasn’t gained much attention because the studio is in a tough spot.

  21. I remember before the launch there was a lot of focus on how good the water was. Best water ever!

I recently bought the remastered trilogy and look forward to playing it again.
