Was taking RAM stick out and whole dock for stick of RAM came with it. Is it ruined now or can I simply push this back into place on motherboard?

Uh….Thats not supposed to happen. This is why the tabs push the DIMM out for you when you press them.

In any case, your board is probably ruined now. You are very unlikely to be able to get all 288 pins back in their respective channels.

Chances are high it’s ruined. In fact you might wanna check each pin on the torn ram slot to see if any are touching. Motherboard might be salvageable if you keep them separated.

    put it in rice overnight….

    seriously tho, RIP.

On the bright side you should have more ram slots available, just make sure you use dual channel (1-3 or 2-4). google says that it should work…..

Like…did you forget the ram sticks are clicked into place? So you just yanked it out like a mad man?

    *face palms*

Are you by chance the hulk? how much force must one exert to rip out a freakin’ RAM slot from the motherboard?

    You sir are scary.

  7. I’m guessing you just pulled instead of releasing the ram, you shouldn’t need to pull with any force really to get ram out, yes you’ve fucked that port and possibly the board.

If you have 4 slots then you really don’t have to worry that much but if you only had 2 slots we’ll you’re stuck just using 1 RAM stick. If you only had 1 slot then you’re fucked unless you know how to fix it which I think you don’t bc if you did you wouldn’t ask a question about it on Reddit

I’ve had this happen on a cheaper mobo I got at an Asian market. I was able to very carefully stick it back on and the slot worked fine. Have to be VERY careful to make sure the pins are 100% lined up.

You are going to have to re download that ram.

how did you even manage to do this there’s literally not a single point during ram installation or removal where you should have to pull on anything at all 😭

The entire board is most likely done for my man. Thats super unfortunate. Did it not pop up when you pushed the tab back? Anyway, best of luck!

Jesus tiddy-fucking Christ! I would ask how that is even possible, but reading some of your comments has hurt me enough for today.

I’m sorry to be a dick OP, but lmfao

  15. I have seen laptops bent in half, GPUs destroyed beyond recognition and a lot of other crazy stuff, but I have never seen this. How the fuck does this happen?

  16. Pjtruslow

Umm. I’m pretty sure the anchor pins for the plastic socket housing are meant to be soldered. Looks like they forgot.

OP smoking some copium thinking he can fix his motherboard.

  19. RIP motherboard, I guess you forgot to open the latches at the end before pulling the stick.

sell the whole pc at this rate what a monstrosity

I did the same thing with a GPU slot once. Luckily I had another slot with the same lanes. Getting that back on would be extremely hard. I am not sure of a good way to attempt it.

  22. SilentKiller96

If all the pins are still on the mobo and not bent, you should be able to put that piece back.

  23. nopatiencetokeep

I guess there’s a first time for everything. Never seen this before

  24. RajatPlayz

this same thing happened with me for pcie 16x slot i had to buy a new mobo

In almost 20 years of being in the IT field, this is a first for me… wow! Idk if I can say anything that helps, but… wow! I feel like this is a secret locked achievement.

  26. Nope that ram slot is very dead! Get a new motherboard your other componanants aren’t worth the like 100$ for a good replacement.

  27. Ant-boi-4653

Ram sticks should only take force to be put in. It is very easy to take them out. I assume you just ripped that stuck out without pressing down the tabs?

  28. Fusseldieb

That should NOT happen… You can try putting it back, but chances are you won’t be able to align every pin. If you bend one, it won’t work.
