For me the worst part of building pc is that stupid…hmm…clipper? That thing that you use to put your cpu cooler in the bracket, i hate that thing, buy one that use screws, is much better.

The only part I don’t like is installing a non-stock CPU cooler. My last system used the Hyper 212 Evo and this one has the NH-D15.
I REALLY don’t like the part where you have to press the cooler onto the CPU a lot harder than you’re comfortable with, knowing that you could destroy the CPU and the mobo if you overdo it.

Number 3 happened to me, I have a 5000D case, 360 AIO and a unify x MOBO. The heatsink on the MOBO is too tall and I can’t properly screw the radiator on top, so now it just hangs on one side.

I just built in a phanteks nv5 and while the case looks awesome the cable management is terrible.
The fact that I have 8 RGB fans and a GPU that requires 3x pcie cables did not help matters.

Yeah … DOA motherboards are my only concern. I now have a big ON/OFF button that attaches right to the MOBO so I can test it almost immediately without going any further. I always order two MOBOs when doing a new build just in case. I should probably start putting together builds with a test bench before putting things into a case. There’s nothing worse then spending all day or week putting something together only for it to not POST properly or not even turn on at all.
Yea,GPU sag is really hard to solve,you have to spend a whole 10 seconds to jam something under it.

Posibly more of the enthusiasts thing but for me it is trying to squezze performance out of the cpu/gpu via UV+OC manually or adding/replacing new helping components (like coolerpads/new cooler etc).
Sometimes the improvement is 5-8%, which is technically a lot but during process I often ask myself if time investment is really worth it.
Rather it’s not but it gives fun when it works but then after few weeks you may come across program which crashes… and ye it was not fine even though stress test passed before.

I have already built a PC once in my lifetime so far, and my experiences were:
1. I like cable management really, especially if it’s good cases like the CH560 Digital that I use that have places to hook your Velcro to.
2. I already planned to use a vertical GPU mount, specifically the cooler master V3 one, so this was a non issue to me.
3. I also already did extensive research (like 6 months worth of it) while saving for my first PC (within the same length) so I already took into account all the possible sizes and ways to fit them in as well as any possible point of failure that could happen (from mobo to ram to NVMe, basically everything, including possible bios update and whatnot).
4. Thankfully, after checking everything as I built and taking note of checking triple times on where everything should or shouldn’t be, I successfully booted my first PC with no problem whatsoever. Which then I proceeded to install windows.
So this is more of a checklist to me lol. I mean, as long as you’re prepared and have researched things, there shouldn’t be a problem unless the hardware themselves have problems. So always do your research everyone.

Like before there were those wide-ass IDE cables with master-slave (oh no, we don’t use the word s**** anymore, someone might get upset!) connectors which were extremely clunky and could easily block your whole air circulation.
But now that we have M2 SSD’s, what’s left to manage, power cables? Oh yeah, tough shit.
