Despite being a butchered port, it’s honestly impressive how Capcom were able to port RE4 to the PS2.

  1. Butchered is a really strong word for this. The GC release looks a lot more impressive obviously, but the PS2 release is isn’t harmed on any functional level. It’s a content and feature complete port with no gameplay failings relative to the Gamecube.

Also there’s way more compelling lighting comparisons that could have been used. Lightning in the graveyard or lava under the manor for example.

  2. What’s the best way to play OG RE4 aside from the GC version?

    I love my ps2

But Sony was terrible with tech for ps1/ps2.

The ps2 could barely play half life 1

Want to see an impressive RE port, check out RE2 for N64.

It looks and sounds like ass because of how much they had to compress textures, audio, and cutscene FMVs; but the fact that they managed to cram two entire cd roms into a single 64mb cartridge is absolutely an insanely impressive technical achievement.

The PC port was also pretty butchered when it first came out as it had no mouse support.

Isn’t the PS2 a more powerful console, this makes no sense
