That little compartment in the back where the hard drive was supposed to go was an epic stash spot.

My beloved. Simply the goat to this date. Vice City, Metal Gear Solid 2, Here Comes The Pain etc.

  4. Fun fact the Linux support was a loophole for import taxes/tariffs. The taxes/tariffs to import a game console in some countries was so high Sony wouldn’t be able to hit their MSRP price point with the margins they wanted but by allowing Linux to be installed they could class the system as a personal computer and in turn the import taxes/tariffs were much cheaper.

One of the things I learnt recently about the PS2 is that, when starting the system up it shows the cubes as part of its starting animation? The amount of cubes on screen depends on how many game saves you have on your memory card.

PS2 was a bit slow out of the gate, and was mostly just a DVD player for the first year or so of it’s life. But once the big games started coming in, they just didn’t stop. I still remember seeing GTA3 and GT3 for the first time 🤤🤤

PS2 was the greatest console release ever.

That’s why FIFA kept selling games for it for 12 years

You could also rotate the PS logo on the front, so it would match it’s vertical or horizontal positioning

  12. Didn’t manage to cover the sound of my mom picking up her slipper though

Funfact: the GTA games helped camouflaging the real gunshots outside the house.

lol, also the way kids got their parents to buy the system was because it had a DVD player.
Regular players were more expensive than the system was at the time.

Still remember playing the demo for Dynasty Warriors at a Media Play store. I must have replayed that demo 4 or 5 times.

I would always turn the PS logo so it was the right orientation.
