Metaverse really tried to do the whole Wii Sports aesthetic but without any of the charm of the Miis or Wii Sports.

Well, I could see the logic of poor graphics if one was to do a truly limitless online game.
Even the biggest MMO’s tend to limit the actual amount of players allowed in any given instance to a few hundred people or so.
Even when a million people are online, you will never actually see them in a single instance as the game would inevitable crawl to a halt and crash trying to process all that.
For an immersive virtual life sim, you’d want to find a way to actually get more people in the same instance interacting with one another. Making bare bones graphics to minimize any computing and data transfer strain would be one way to approach the issue.

I like how if a rational person points out zuck’s metaverse never had a stated goal of including AAA game graphics with raytracing and destructible environments then that person must be a zuck cuck.

The metaverse tried so hard to be vrchat lmfao

That’s not fair. The image on the right isn’t Meta graphics, it’s an actual photo of the Zuck.

I thought it was updated to look more realistic

So unfair to call Zuck a “human robot”. We all know he is a lizard man.

I mean at least the bad graphics of Metaverse will make it run on any hardware
…
The bad graphics allow it to run in any hardware right?

Did you not see the video from that podcast? It looked way better

You mean Second Life 2?

I keep seeing ads for Doja Cat’s Metaverse concert so it’s alive to some extent but it’s not what Zuck intended it to be

And again: it is not the metaverse, horizon world is a social platform, nothing more. I’m no meta simp, but they never claimed it to be the metaverse, media outlets did.
The 10 billion didn’t go into horizon world, but in R&D for the supposed metaverse in the future (if that ever comes).
I get that it is fun to hate on meta/zucc, but this blatant misinformation is just embarrassing

Graphics don’t fix games.

The quest 3 is great. The meta verse thing is absolute garbage. Not just talking the graphics but the “gameplay” is stupid too. Dumbest looking avatars floating around people talking to one another not much else to do.

Metaverse is what you get when these uncreative CEOs run out of things to buy. They think up a big idea then sell it as the future then basically make a copy of an existing thing but worse and fake like it will be massive.
At no point was metaverse going to be successful. It could be 2010 and it would still fail amazingly. It offered nothing. It wasn’t fun, wasn’t unique, didn’t show use or value to any userbase, not even advertising companies.
Zuckerberg, Musk, Pichai and those like them are coasting on their one big success (in Pichai’s case, being the investors lapdog) but cannot do anything besides layoffs and buying other companies. They’re not geniuses, they’re not innovators, they’re just businessmen with large checkbooks who want a new toy cause it looks cooler than their own toys.
We’re at a weird time cause CEOs especially in tech are out of ideas, have nobody around them with good ideas and they’re out of small companies to buy up the ideas of. They’re in a rut and it’s pretty funny cause they’re at a point now where they HAVE TO create or innovate and just fuckin can’t cause they’ve grown lazy or, in Zuckerbergs case, swung and missed so hard that they can’t take a shot like that again.

This is funny and people love to rag on the metaverse for this reveal but I think everyone should go watch the lex Friedman interview with zuck in the metaverse and then come back to this post

I think it got put down.
So yes.
That’s the best thing I’ve seen all day
