Nah. Enough good games still come out for me to not be all doom and gloom about the state of gaming. Pessimism is very addictive though and I don’t really blame people for thinking everything has gone to shit.

Every year brought good games, yes those were great and some from this era are great too so yeah i don’t think that. Also some of the games from now are trash and the same can be said about that time so yeah can’t say 1 is bad and other is good, enjoy from both times 🙂

They’ve seen how much money can be made from gaming so now a lot of games companies are making games in the quickest way possible with less time and work that makes the best capital, I was dreading for the day that the same strategies from mobile gaming would come to normal gaming and here it is.

I like how you compare just the good games from 2010s to the entirety of AAA these days.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s mostly bad stuff coming out, it feels like they just keep rushing releases to have a “new” gamey instead of making it a “good” game.
But there certainly are good AAA games these days. I for myself really enjoyed Elden Ring and Horizon. Though I do drift more into the indie side with Westward or Heartbound these days.

There’s still plenty of great games coming out nowadays, and there were a lot of shitty games back then too. It’s survivor bias, you only remember the games you have fond memories of. People do the same thing with music, movies, basically everything.

I have 70-ish games in my “need to play” list on Steam and 180+ in my wishlist. That’s just on Steam too.
If you think there aren’t good games out there you are too lazy to look past the same basic 3 franchises you’ve been playing for 10 years, too picky/unadventurous, or a mixture of both.
Simple as that.

I dunno my guy, seems like Japanese AAA scene is thriving recently. Eg, FF7 Rebirth, FF16, Yakuza 8, Persona 3 Reload. Tho they have idiotic micro transaction practices but the game itself are top notch.
Upcoming dragon’s dogma 2 and re fantazio are also looking extremely promising.
Maybe try to move away from EA/Ubisoft trash??

Yes, a lot of newer games are progressively getting worse in quality which is a disgrace when it comes from multi million/billion companies.
However, back in the day games were not as polished as we remember, they were full of bugs and such. The difference is that games were generally less complex, meaning there are less opportunities for the game to have a bug.
This is why every “AAA” game nowadays is a buggy mess because the games are enormous and complex giving them more opportunities for them to break.
